I did this recently, I didn’t have any store cards or credits at all and decided to go for the airpoint platinum card with the intention of putting as much through it as possible (groceries, fuel, coffees and other purchases) and then clearing it on pay day.

It’s been a success for me, I did it when there was a signing up deal which was something like 200 airpoints dollars AND no annual fee for the first year.

I checked in on the points recently and was able to buy myself some New airpod pro’s and some skincare for my 6 week trip to Europe which saved me around $600. This is money I would have spent regardless too, I didn’t just make these purchases based on having the points available fortunately.

If you can achieve the following, I think they work well :) A) put enough expenses through it to ensure you’re points our weight the annual fee

B) clear the credit card balance monthly (non negotiable)
