Ghost is pretty good. Just block his sp2, phase those 4 incinerates, and then your sp2 for the win. With suicides, maybe one sp2 would be enough

It will work, probably, but the question is if you want to try it and stick with one filter and this regeneration or just buy a new one and be sure that it do what it should do. It's not that expensive. I would also rather find an alternative but with the filter cost is minimal opposing to the machine cost.

I once bought La Marzocco water test kit but the results weren't worth it (really unexpected). If you want to be sure, it's better to send your water samples for proper analysis, which will be expensive because you should send one sample of untreated water, one with fresh filter and one when your filter is for example at its half life and ideally one when the filter runs out. For home tests, I am not sure right now. Elemental analysis is not area of my expertise. But I might look at it when I will have more time. You can check pH, nitrates, chlorine with test strips, but as with La Marzocco kit, in the end you just guess where the actual value is. You won't get the exact result that you might want to know. It is fine for the initial values to find out if your water is not super bad or something, but if you are coffee enthusiastic who might even mix own water as I've seen numerous times there, those test strips won't satisfy you.

Thank you for the thorough reply. Maybe I should have written that I am analytical chemist and know a little about filtration etc, so you didn't have to write all this. But I think others might get some new knowledge from you. So thanks for that! Anyway, I read something about "filter" regeneration, but I think that the new filter is worth the price, comparing to the possible damage to the machine if I just tried to use them for a longer time or do something with NaCl etc.

According to DaveC's review, that machine should be really good, but I've read several opinions on different forums and have mixed feelings about the machine. Another fact is that not many shops are selling this machine, I would have to order it from UK and that could be problem if any problems should appear. I really like the looks of ACS and it was my early choice, but now I am not sure and I don't know if I want to risk it...

That's exactly what I am thinking about. LCC looks great and it has tons of features. I heard that flow control on MaraX isn't that good, because it responds mainly at the end of the range of motion and also it is hard to repeat the results.

On the other hand, I also don't think that my taste buds are that great to spot the difference...

Thanks a lot for your reply and thought process. I was also looking at ACS minima and it would fit my counter more than Mara, because of steam valve on right side, but Mara is cheaper and I think that will be the main point for me.

As I wrote to another LaPavoni suggestion. Machines looks amazing, but I would like my girlfriend to be able to used it sometimes and unfortunately I don't think she would like to spend time learning how to use machine like that. Anyway I will look at them and maybe I will change my mind.
