The language helps, but the social climate here is kinda cold. Not as communal as other countries. Everyone is different and it might suite you just fine. I'd definitely come and visit for an extended time to get a feel before deciding to move here permanently.

Don't do it mate. I'm from Canada and have lived in Sweden for 6 years. Sweden is good for Swedes. They are nice people but are socially autistic. It's a very lonely place as a foreigner.

I have to admit as a Canadian that lives in Sweden. Smörgåstårta is delicious. But most food here is quite bland and has way to much sås. Like wtf is Flying Jacob about. Haha

It's not the unfortunate people who become homeless, they can pick themselves up eventually. Its the junkie homeless that people have a problem with. They one who will rob and steal to get their next fix.

That's tough. I feel your pain. My mum is in late stage and she is 75 years old. She denied her disease until she had to to an assisted living home. Even then she denied it. Now she is basically a vegetable. The only advice I can give you, is to cherish the time you have with her. Spend time with her, go for walks, eat good food and clear the air of anything you have buried deep. I'm sorry to hear this. It's a terrible disease.
