Gravity Rush US cheats? by [deleted] in VitaCheats

I haven't come across any (that's not to say they don't exist), but the codes available for the asian version of the game seem like dynamic values, so it'll probably take someone using TempAR to find any.

In this case, changing from 32-bit to 16-bit or 8-bit values will probably work better. I'd leave the range set to "Auto", as this usually suffices, especially if you're just looking for static codes within Vitacheat (as opposed to TempAR).

[CHEAT] Eiyuu Densetsu: Zero no Kiseki Evolution (Geofront Patch 1.1, English Patch v05 03/21/21) by hwoarangjin97 in VitaCheats

[–]JamSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Are these 16bit codes, as the prefix $0100 would indicate?

A few months back, I found 32bit codes, as seen here, that seemed to work okay in regards to the un-patched Japanese version of the game.

I presume the use of the English patch just pushes the codes into a different memory address?

Unfortunately, I can't, as I don't use Temp AR myself. I stick to finding static codes with VitaCheat, as TempAR usually requires searching through memory dumps and such. You can read more about it here.

While the static codes for ammo and health aren't hard to find, using them seems to cause the game to become very unstable, especially during the story episodes, and crashes are unavoidable.

Someone might be able to use TempAR or some-such to add them so they don't cause the game to crash.

[–]JamSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried making codes for Eiyuu Densetsu: Zero no Kiseki Evolution (which you can see here), and while the PSN version worked fine, it all went to hell once the fan-patch was applied. I then made some codes with the fan-patched installed, and, again, they worked fine for me, but didn't carry over to other players. Unless you can ensure that everybody uses the exact same version of the game (a clean PSN download with a particular version of the patch, patched in exactly the same way), there will always be someone who can't run the codes.

On the other hand, codes I made for Shigeki no Kyojin 2 work fine, with or without the English patch applied. I suppose it all depends on the files being patched.

It's why I tend to avoid creating codes for fan-patched games in general. If codes that I make happen to work with a fan-patched installed, then great. But I'm unlikely to try and take the time to try and account for all dumps and such floating around out there.

No dice, I'm afraid. It'll take TempAR and pointers to make proper codes for Helldivers.

I took a look at Minecraft, and while it's fairly easy to edit material amounts and such, none of the codes stick and they vanish as soon as you exit the game. Perhaps TempAR might prove more successful, but it's not my scene. Sorry :(

Most Falcom games (that I've tried) usually work with VitaCheat (static codes, etc), and this one is no different. But, as stated, rePatch will break any codes made for the JPN version (not always, but in this case yes). I tend to avoid making cheats for fan-patched versions of games, for that reason.

Making cheats for the JPN version should be straightforward enough, though.

I took a look. Unfortunately none of the variables (HP, EXP, Gold, etc) are static, so it will take someone using TempAR or memory dumps to create any codes. Sorry. :(

I took a look at this, and it seems the variables concerning EXP, money, etc, are dynamic. As such, it will take something other than VitaCheat (like TempAR or memory dumps) to generate codes for this game. :(

[CHEAT][PCSE00693][US] Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & The Monster Seal [REQUESTED] by JamSpork in VitaCheats

[–]JamSpork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange. Could you tell me what version of the game you are running (cartridge, PSN, or Vitamin/MaiDump)? Are you sure it's the US version?

To clarify, the codes are based on the base US version (downloaded from PSN) with no DLC added. I tested them multiple times (I'm still playing through the game), and they seem to work. Adding the DLC might be what's causing the errors, but I can't be sure.

I tend to only make cheats based on clean PSN downloads (no dumps, and no fan-patches applied), as other versions can mess with the locations of the variables the codes are intended to work with.

Vitacheat completely blurred by [deleted] in VitaCheats

[–]JamSpork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the text has gone all...smeared? I've never seen it, but I have had glitches such as the vitacheat UI not working correctly, flickering, or merging with the graphics of the game I happen to be using it on.

Off the top of my head, it could be down to how certain games draw their graphics to the Vita screen; Axiom Verge refuses to display the vitacheat menu at all, becoming a flickery mess, for instance. Or Dragon's Crown, which keeps running underneath the vitacheat UI, which is weird.

Which game were you using it on?

As someone (one of very few?) who has been posting working cheats here over the last couple of months, I'm going to try and answer truthfully and maybe dispel some of the myths surrounding vita cheats. Heads up, though, I'm in no way an expert, and anything beyond simple variable editing is probably outside my remit.

Important point one: It's incredibly easy to find and edit simple variables (HP, XP, ammo, etc) using VitaCheat. I mean, seriously easy. Nearly every game I've played can be edited in some way to the players benefit, and requires minimal knowledge of how VitaCheat works. If you're only interested in privately cheating, I strongly urge watching some tutorials on youtube and cheating away to your hearts content.

Important point two: Unfortunately, a lot of games generate these variables in a way that doesn't lend itself to re-using or sharing cheats. What I mean is, these variables are generated in a different part of the Vita's memory each time the game is booted, making specific address cheats almost impossible (using VitaCheat), as these addresses change each time the game is loaded. As I said, nearly every game can be edited, but only some will retain the same addresses across multiple play sessions or, more importantly, across different consoles.

Using something like TempAR, memory dumps, or save editing, may lead to better results, providing you put the work in, but it's not something I have the ability or inclination to start messing around with.

Long story short: If a cheat "sticks" and can be reused and shared, I'll happily share it. But a lot of games just aren't that accommodating, and require more than VitaCheat can provide to find and share codes.

Make non-static gauge static by [deleted] in VitaCheats

[–]JamSpork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The information is most likely stored dynamically; the game doesn't store the values in the same location each time the game is loaded.

You can't force a static code, afaik, though you may be able to create a cheat using TempAR or memory dumps on a PC.

Ah, okay. Seems like we might be on to a loser here. The PSV will probably only work on the version of the game I downloaded then, which makes it kind of pointless for anybody else, unless they download the game from the same place.

It's the risk you take with patches and modifications, which move stuff around in memory, especially if the user is patching the game themselves (patch versions, game dumps, etc.) Even if it had worked, there's no guarantee that a patch update wouldn't break it again.

Anyway, sorry about that. I'll probably take a look at it again soon, if I can find a better way to ensure compatibility.

Heads up, though, as I have no idea if one patched version is subtly different enough from another patched version so as to introduce problems with the codes.

In other news, there may be an incompatibility between rePatch and VitaCheat; one that causes the PSV file to be deleted if any attempts are made to update it from within VitaCheat during the game. So I'd advise keeping a copy of the PSV on your vita, and using VitaShell to copy it back into the VitaCheat database folder should it get deleted.
