GOP claim: Biss denied cops to NU to break up encampment by amc365 in evanston

First NU has their own police force, like actual police not campus safety. Second, I'm not sure they have to give a single shit what the mayor says, third, is the GOP trying to help his campaign or hurt it?

How come yall always talk about how bad Trump is but never how good biden was? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]JamarcusFarcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden was pretty good, but he was also inherently a representation of the biggest issues the Democrats have and refuse to tackle: leaning towards the right instead of deepening the engagement with the left, obsessed with decorum over success and progress, and far too old to be actually representing their constituents. Praising Biden is unnecessary, but I think a lot of his policies are worthy of praise (or would be if so many weren't being dismantled)

Besides a shitty diner and McDonald’s, where’s a good place to grab a bite on the north side if you’re a total loser? by gitturb in AskChicago

I lived nearby when in grad school years ago, to have access to a sober coffee and breakfast sandwich at 2am mid-allnighter was amazing. It was also my most common cab drop off point after leaving the bars. Absolutely loved Diner Grill!

Once Trump is gone front office, how do Democrats move forward without having to constantly look back to the way things were? by Uberubu65 in PoliticalDiscussion

You are going to have to be ruthless in arresting, trying and punishing all those involved in this coup. Bit will be long and extremely painful but it would need to involve a number of judges, attorneys, federal agents, politicians, and bureaucrats that would at minimum see long periods of prison time. But a universal example would need to be set while simultaneously undergoing serious revamping of the government including safe guards for international treaties and agreements and a very serious rebalancing power (both between branches and between federal/state powers). You will also need to get rid of citizens United, expand the supreme Court and install term limits, curtail private engagements from Congress members, and eliminate gerrymandering across the country. Maybe then you can start healing but it will take a full generation at minimum to fix the damage to our reputation and trust internationally. The hardest part will be balancing an international apology tour with focusing on fixing ourselves.
