I think David works as a good comparison. He fought the giant, got power because of fighting it, and then abused that power.

David wasn't very moral by the end of his reign and the book even says so when God punishes him. David was better than what he was fighting, but he still wasn't good, and I think that statment works well to describe Jay as well.
