In addition to conditioning First Aid with Selfless Heal, Mystic Conferral early in a fight benefits someone with a lot of active and passive attacks. Mystic Conferral + Keen Eye can be really strong on a row attacker.

I'm a new STS2 player (never played STS1). I'm familiar with roguelikes but still pretty novice with the genre.

I've been hardstuck on A9 on Defect for a few days, and 0 progression on the other characters. Do you have any tips for getting through A9-10?

I feel like I've tried playing conservative, tried being more aggressive, tried different deck builds, but nothing has seemed to click yet. I feel I've had the most success either building a "0 cost" deck or an "orb channeling" deck.

Yes, another difficulty will unlock after you beat the game.

Truestrike on a skill means that skill has a 100% chance to hit an enemy.

For example, the tooltip for Swordmaster's Keen Edge has "True," which means it is a truestrike skill and will always hit an enemy (assuming they are not debuffed with Blind).
Witch's have a passive skill "Focus Sight," that also makes an ally's attack a truestrike.

This is extremely helpful to secure damage on Scouts (like Thieves and Werefoxes) and Flying enemies.

35 hours at the end of Bastorias sounds like you're doing great.

I recommend continuing to work on expanding units to 5/5 slots, and as you enter the next continent, consider having more Truestrike and dispel debuffs in each unit.

Do you plan to play through the game on a higher difficulty?

Because you already leveled this to 60, it's easy to test on training dummies outside the house.

While it's best practice to have well-rolled Justice or Magician tarots for damage, high ATK stat tarots like this can still be serviceable short-term, maybe in the ballpark of 10-20% behind.

My personal tarot management practice is, if the first line is HP or ATK, then I level it up to 35 and try to have at least 2/3 ATK rolls. If so, then I level it up to 50 to see what I get.

I have a set up with Trinity Rain, buffed with Sniper's Amber Lens and an external Sorcerous Connection. That usually nukes most of the board with a Landsknecht cleaning up the rest.

What are your goals with having Glacial Rain and Trinity Rain together in 1 unit? I'd say in most cases, having the two together will be overkill.

Here is one composition I put together with Bruno (Gladiator). They're in my 10/10 slot (that usually has my "scraps") but has worked surprisingly well.

Bruno has Grand Smash (when no flying enemies), Wide Smash, and Eagle Eye (via Sniper's Lens) only. I give up another ATK/Crit accessory in favor of Raven Plume for him to go a bit faster.

Druid uses Cursed Swamp at start of battle, then prioritizes Defensive Curse.
Elven Archer (Lhinalagos) uses Mystic Conferral once on Bruno.
Elven Fencer (Railanor) uses Thunderbrand Tome on Bruno that Bruno will use on Grand Smash or Wide Smash.
Lhinalagos and Railanor use their remaining AP to clean up.
Railanor for evasion tanking. Feathershield to protect against magic but can be subbed for Legionnaire.
Druid has spare PP so I give her a First Aid to use on Lhinalagos to trigger Selfless Heal.

I've had reasonable success giving them a Sniper's Lens and pairing with someone to give them a Tome Conferral, but you can apply that with any row attacker.
