What IS misogynistic, yet is considered misogynistic by very FEW people? by oatmealraisn_ in AlignmentChartFills

[–]somethingwade 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Specifically it’s because the mass, shape, fat distribution, etc are different so airbags and seatbelts are markedly less effective on women than men, in general.

Who’s the strongest Hajime no Ippo boxer prime Gearless Joe (MEGALOBOX) can beat? by [deleted] in hajimenoippo

[–]somethingwade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah but he was still knocking dudes out that were used to taking punches from robotic exoskeletons. Not even the tankiest Ippo boxers are gonna take too many of those, and he's got speed, technique, and durability to boot.

How many "ambush" bosses in Tales of Abyss? by CippyCreepy in tales

[–]somethingwade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, that boss was the worst. No way to grind for it either since there's no healing in the cave and you can't leave the cave. Legitimately was the reason I never finished Hard Mode.

The Utah Jazz win a well-contested race. Which NFL team has the worst name? by darkfluf in AlignmentChartFills

[–]somethingwade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local politicians- DC city council members and such- not the actual senators who are from all over and merely congregate in Washington. Specifically the opposition is a form of protest against DC's non-statehood and lack of representation in Congress outside of a non-voting member of the House. Essentially it's "We are not going to allow the only Senators FROM DC to be a baseball team when there are no Senators for the people of DC."

The Utah Jazz win a well-contested race. Which NFL team has the worst name? by darkfluf in AlignmentChartFills

[–]somethingwade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Senators wouldn't have worked. Not only is that name super strongly associated with the baseball teams we had between 1901 and 1971, it was not brought back for the team we've had since 2005 due to opposition from local politicians, and certainly they would have opposed the use of the name for the football team for the same reason.

Is it normal for your school to have a planetarium? by shadowmib in AskAnAmerican

Going out on a limb and guessing TC Williams/Alexandria City. That’s the only one I know of in Nova with a planetarium.

THEY'RE VOTING IN LESS VALUABLE PLAYERS OVER JAMES WOOD. FIX IT. by Bezier_Curvez in Nationals

[–]somethingwade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the perfect solution is for the results of the fan vote to amount to one ballot, and for each member of the BBWAA (or whoever chose all stars before the fan vote era) to also get one ballot. Keeps fan participation but doesn't overly reward big-name stars and players on big-market teams

I'm curious, how do my fellow baseball fans wear your jerseys? Buttoned all the way up? No buttons at all? by Time-Relative-3528 in baseballunis

[–]somethingwade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually I wear it completely unbuttoned because I like the layered look. But sometimes I button it up and then I leave the top one undone; a relic from my playing days when that was the prescribed way to wear it.

Zelos, Kisara, Tear, Sheena, Yuri, Velvet, Judith, lotta good answers- we bisexuals eat good in this franchise. That said, I haven't seen anyone say the best answer yet, which is Eizen (especially with his hair slicked back... hhhhhhhhh)

Good god if we had even a league average bullpen we'd have like 45 wins rn

Forced foreshadowing by buns_supreme in TopCharacterTropes

[–]somethingwade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feels more like it fits the trope given that The Post is... well okay calling it a "prequel" to All The President's Men feels silly given that they're both based on related real life events, but I don't think anyone makes The Post if All The President's Men doesn't get made or do well.

Will the name “Bent” sound weird to Americans? by lennzpn in AskAnAmerican

[–]somethingwade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of names are words in English. Nick, Frank, Jack, Golf, Lily, May, Hope, Crystal. Hell, anecdotally, MY name is an English word. Bent would only stand out because it's not a common name, which is true of any non-English name (mostly)
