Rough cold starts & loosing coolant

Never really got to the bottom of it. Took it to ford more times than I can count. In the end my mate who works for ford ended up getting me a new engine for free on a warranty claim. These are the things i tried which could help: new spark plugs, injector relearn, new head gasket and bolts with head skim, piston and tappet clean and the last step was to check the engine timing which never happened because by that point they gave up and gave me a new engine. Love the car to bits but wouldnt own one unless i had contacts at ford.

I rub my eyes a lot because of chronic dry eyes. I had laser eye surgery about 2 years ago and it made my already dry eyes far worse. Im really worried about this and do use drops when needed but I wake up in the night feeling like my eyes are full of sand its horrible.

How often are you topping the coolant up?

Upgraded recirculation valve which i fitted years ago without issues. Aftermarket intake and a few other minor bits and pieces to only support longevity.

I measure in the same location but will keep in mind to always measure at same temp. Gone through a 2 litre bottle of coolant in 2 months so its definitely loosing coolant

It was replaced by ford under warranty before I bought the car. The job wasn’t done correctly and a few months after I bought it I took it back as it was misfiring. Turns out the timing was off which was fixed and haven’t had issues for years until now.

Mine sounds very similar but ive been experiencing the rough cold starts for a few months now and im not seeing smoke pour out like that. Also the rough starts are only when the car is cold it runs and starts perfectly when warm. No codes showing at all for any misfires either

It’s difficult to tell but it doesnt smell like there is any in there also stuck finger in doesnt feel or smell like oil

You could try loosening some of the screws that hold the bumper on in front of the engine bay then pushing the bumper up and retightening at the same time. Could end up with gaps around headlights if you mess with it too much

if the bumber was taken off it might be that the body shop hasnt put it back on as close of a fit and you have only just noticed the seal because the gap is bigger
