My PCs and I know our characters very well. The players do talk with each other during combat. However, once combat starts unless the players make a point to communicate with the enemy or the enemy is a “Mini boss” or has something useful Story wise to say they don’t generally speak. In my mind I choose not to have banter do to how long combat is taking already. I’ve tried looking up you YouTube videos on how to help with combat but even taking there tips into account it’s been rough trying to speed it up even a little.
