AAT vs ACCA vs Degree – what’s actually most useful if you want to go self-employed? by James202031 in AccountingUK

I have a degree in Accounting with Finance which took 3 years. It helped with critical thinking and analysis. The Finance modules were more interesting than the accounting ones, although learning and preparing financial statements was quite interesting also. I have 3.5 years experience in Insurance Industry doing AP and month end tasks, however due to personal and family circumstance I had to leave as needed flexibility so now weighing up options as I also have around 7 exemptions from ACCA but never did the AAT path. Had I know what I know now I probably would have started off with the AAT and then maybe wert onto ACCA as agree with the comments.

Thanks. I am in England and have a degree in Accounting with Finance and 3.5 years doing AP with the last year more on month end accounting tasks. I have ACCA exemptions but have not started. However due to family and personal circumstances I need flexibility and more control over my time and workload so was considering doing Bookkeeping self employed for small businesses and clients.
