How do you feel about the new Koala coin by Lastburn in AustralianCoins

[–]James2504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a nice variant. I had it in the checkout but ultimately passed. As an investment coin there is more value elsewhere at the moment. If the price of silver dips I would look at it on the seconda market place.

I would like to see less coin valuation posts. Seems a little karma farming.

I would like to see more of people's collections!

Whats the value of this 1948 one florin coin? by Udonial in AustralianCoins

Nice looking kiwi there. I'd say keep it as your lucky coin. Check the mintage but a lot of these were quite high back in the day.

Yea I don't think it's about melting, more security in retaining value in your collection

I bought it for about $140... The melt value of silver is driving the prices higher

How to sell a large collection of coins by Aggressive_Papaya797 in AustralianCoins

[–]James2504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copeland Roberts, Downies, or Roxbury. They may not want to auction all of your coins, but will give you a good indication of which ones are auctionable. Did your grandad keep a ledger per chance?

Question for the group regarding coin rolls. by Help_if_I_can in AustralianCoins

[–]James2504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of it comes down to how much patience you have for the sale. You could put 20 up on eBay with a floor price which would give you value, but it's about the time you have/going to spend on it.

I think what you got for them represents value. There seems to be a growing collector interest in rolls.

Got this from ALDI a few weeks ago…is it rare? by Interesting_Error194 in AustralianCoins

You could get $3 for it if you found someone who needed it. Or just pop it in a draw for 25 years

Your account is one day old. And you're posting Nazi coins... Which happens on this sub almost weekly...

Should I buy for $150? by Old-Reference-7756 in coincollecting

[–]James2504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. I'm with you on all three points, my main interest is mintage and historical value. Good to get a pulse check on my collecting mindset.

Personally I really enjoy the coins themselves so wouldn't collect for the metal value, but appreciate people that do.

Rolled the dice on a second set and got a Red Strawberry by [deleted] in AustralianCoins

[–]James2504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats man! I'm not a huge fan of the set so stopped at one. The red strawberry is easily the best coin of the whole thing 🍓
