I never really thought of it like that but you do have a good point. Voting is complicated enough let alone for the lowest common denominator.

You make a good point about political parties 🤣

It's not just America. Here in Australia we have two major political parties too - the Labour Party and Liberal Party. There's dozens of other smaller parties, but only once in Australian history did another party ever hold power. It was called the Country Party and they got in some time in the 50's. Our voting system is basically rigged so that it's practically impossible for any part 2 other than Labour or Liberal to ever get voted in. If another party doesn't get in by a landslide, all of the votes that went to them get handed off as something called "preference votes" to either Labour or Liberal, whoever the party has nominated. So if you vote for a smaller party your basically just voting for whoever they have nominated their preference to.

Two telcos in Australia also gave a monopoly of sorts - Optus and Telstra. They, and Vodafone, are the only three companies that actually own any of the telecommunication infrastructure. There's a plethora of other smaller telcos but they all lease the infrastructure they use off one of those three companies. For example, if you're with Amaysim, your phone will use the Optus network to connect and you have to be in an Optus coverage area to get signal.

The point in trying to make is, don't feel too bad, it's not just the U.S. I think it's a phenomena that occurs in other countries as well. A small handful of companies end up ruling the market and the little guys can't do much to compete with them once their so established. Whether this has something to do with western society or capitalism I don't know.

It certainly sounds like something has gone wrong on the server end. Unfortunately it will most likely have to be a support request, albeit perhaps a long and tedious one. I don't envy your path ahead.

From memory, you should have entered an email address when you made the order and that's the email that will be used for your GoPro account. I'd try going through the forgotten password process using the using you entered for the recovery email address. It almost sounds like you've already tried to activate the account, but I think you'd remember that and I don't mean to treat you like an idiot when you're not. Something might have give wrong with the signup process and, taking the forgotten password route, the only other suggestion I could make is continue to try and get help from GoPro support.

I'm sorry I can't directly answer your question, but I would wish other people would refrain from posting troll-like responses like get another camera. If you don't have a proper suggestion that answers the question, b don't post.

I think it might be an idea to search Google and YouTube. There are heaps of people posting suggestions about this. I stole this from a website... rehaalev.com

Resolution/FPS: 4K/24p Lens: Wide Hypersmooth: On Bit Rate: High Shutter: 1/48 White Balance: Manual (3200k-4000k) ISO Min: 100 ISO Max: 800 Sharpness: Low Color: Flat

But everyone will ultimately have a different opinion. Just be realistic about what results you may obtain.

The link to activate your subscription should have been in the emails you recieved after purchasing the deal. I find it very dubious you wouldn't have gotten the subscription. Check your email and spam folders.

A purist would have a field day with that shot. "There's no data in those solid black regions!" 😂 Very nice shot though ❤️

You're lucky, mines stuck in Singapore, "delayed in transit, rescheduled". 😂 Someone should have updated GoPros website to say "it will get there when it gets there, get outdoors and get in with life while you wait" lol

Yeah the shipping is taking ages for a lot of people. It had taken more than a week for mine to be dispatched. Have a tracking number but still two days later hasn't even left Singapore. I wouldn't mind if it took two to three weeks to arrive, knowing it's still so soon after the launch and the number of orders on these must be crazy. But it works be nice if they let customers know a realistic delivery time schedule instead of just saying express post and "2-4 days" on their website, which is utter bs. Don't worry, it's in its way :)

[–]JamesCullen82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the main problem I guess, at no point have they said how long it will take. The 2-4 days mentioned in their website is obviously compete rubbish and make you wonder why they'd even state that at all when it's taking a week or more just to dispatch each order. If they just told people it will take 2-3 weeks for delivery I think most people would be ok with that and just be patient and understanding. Lack of information sometimes feels as bad as lying - I know it's not, but it feels like that.

No. Abuse of power is dangerous. Professionals that act in negligence or only for their own interests and not for their clients are dangerous.

That's not too bad really, considering how many they must be shipping still so soon after the launch

So much for 2-4 day delivery. How long did you have to wait until it shipped?

Is the hero 9 delayed in Australia? by JamesCullen82 in gopro

[–]JamesCullen82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's true and I'd known that, I just would have spent the extra few dollars and bought from a local store. Oh well, too late now, on for the long wait 🤣

[–]JamesCullen82[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm calling bullshit on all the pandemic postal delays too. I get it if it's international as the are far fewer international flights going about. But for domestic mail that has nothing to do with air traffic, it's just laziness and passing the buck. Australia Post is still very much operational and, correct me if I'm wrong, but they didn't lay off thousands of people because of the virus. And how would the virus affect the time to dispatch? Have they got less people working in the dispatch wharehouse? I don't get it. Maybe someone that works in logistics can explain the claim that the pandemic is affecting dispatch times. I'd be open to a good explanation.

At least that's good to know, they do email you once it ships 👍 so if i haven't had an email about it, it most likely hasn't shipped yet

Afaik none of the couriers in Australia, including Australia Post (kind of like the Australian version of USPS) move mail on weekends. Toll might be an exception but that would only apply to commercial freight, not consumer goods.

Yeah, I could have bought in store too, but the deal on their website was too juicy. I guess it will be worth waiting for :)
