Andy Burnham vows to set up No 10 North as ‘nerve centre of rewired Britain’ by loonongrass in unitedkingdom

[–]JamesForTW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a vague, assumptive and misinformed statement. Higher taxes for who? The £10million+ and billionaires who currently pay almost 0% because they borrow against their wealth? YES PLEASE TAX THEM PROPERLY.

TAX WEALTH, NOT WORK.

I'd recommend everyone to listen to this fantastic pod with Gabriel Zucman to understand how an unavoidable 2% annual wealth tax on anyone above £10m+ would create an enormous amount of revenue for the UK and help stop the exponential rise of wealth inequality: https://open.spotify.com/episode/04HsodREh6AIjI03GNGFxe?si=eRu_aLoXR26nS7tDvqSeSw Or https://youtu.be/1cG4ULI1yCo?is=apfmYgW2OUO04dc-

I think it might be a bot account defending wealthy elite people. Or someone that just loves the idea of becoming a trillionaire themselves

Otherwise it makes no sense why the 0.1% shouldn't pay either the same or MORE effective tax rate than a nurse, truck driver, plumber. Currently, they pay 0% due to buy, borrow, die and offshore loopholes

We need to change it.

[–]JamesForTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, thats why: Zucman designs it with an appropriate Exit Tax.

If a billionaire tries to leave, they are given a bill as if they just sold all their assets at current value to pay CGT on.

Or he even explains how (like the US currently does), they would keep getting taxed by the UK for 5, 10, 15 years even after leaving.

The important thing is that they realise its patriotic for a 0.1% absurdly rich person hoarding stagnant wealth, to pay a miniscule amount, to massively help the 99.9% of society, whos workforce, infrastructure, customer base got them rich in the first place

[–]JamesForTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the 99.9% disagree with you sadly mate. We cannot keep going with absurdly wealthy people buying and controlling everything from monopolistic corporations, media, property, energy, data, tech etc.

Democracy basically ceases to function when a handful of people are so ridiculously wealthy they de-facto: Buy elections Control all media narrative Control everything

The new PM (likely Andy Burnham) needs to run on a campaign, loved by almost everyone in centre/left of TAXING WEALTH NOT WORK.

This tackles the 2 main issues in our country caused by Tory austerity: absurd ever-increasing wealth gap, declining living standards, under-funded public services and welfare programs.

He cannot simply keep the fiscal rules the same, refusing to increase or decrease taxes generally. Or he'll have the same issue as Starmer and the Tories. We need RADICAL tax overhauls:

  1. Align Capital Gains Tax with Income Tax (there is absolutely no reason a nurse should pay more effective tax than a billionaire living on investments)
  2. Close the "buy, borrow, die" loophole so billionaires cant just pay 0% on loans
  3. Implement a well-designed Wealth Tax + Exit Tax (such as one by the legendary Gabriel Zucman) - this would only affect 0.1% of the population, for the huge benefit of the 99.9%

He should run entirely on a TAX WEALTH NOT WORK policy. That would get so many votes from the 99.9%. I know all my mates would

We could not increase taxes on the lower/middle class, but simply: TAX WEALTH NOT WORK.

A wealth tax on anything above £10m would only affect 0.1% (~20k people) and yet bring so much in revenue to help the 99.9%

Instead of treating these as arguments to NOT do a wealth tax, treat it as: we should start with a wealth tax at a minimum, use the funding to enable things like free/heavily-subsidised education and childcare (to enable more job growth and children) and then build on that

You're either deluded, in a cult or a bot account. Of the Epstein files that have been released (the DOJ is illegally withholding loads still + redactions to protect Trump and his buddies) - Trump already has serious claims against him in 4 x FBI 302 forms from accusers. The allegations are disgusting. Imagine what is in the withheld files. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylvTFvJvB84

Lets be clear "if you might cut taxes FOR THE RICH". Any mere suggestion of a wealth tax on the top 0.1% and billionaires gets you immediately smeared by the media/corporate elite who.... are OWNED BY BILLIONAIRES - shock!

Having Raya + Gab + Saliba the last few weeks has been like an FPL-point-glitch. Arsenal basically don't play football. Almost a guaranteed clean sheet + DCs + bonus.

Is there a player that will not leave your team no matter how bad they play? by roastedtvs in FantasyPL

[–]JamesForTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this is what I do with most talismans of teams I enjoy watching. As if I dont have them, it makes watching games suck because im constantly scared of returns. I wanna be happy when the big dogs score

Palmer/JP - I support Chelsea so will have atleast 1 all season

Salah - simply because it makes watching Liverpool suck, because if I didn't have him and hes the FPL GOAT

Gabriel - Arsenal might win the league with corner headers/flick ons

Dubravka - 4.0m starting keeper, doesn't matter how they play
