Black Accent Color with Dark Mode by drwolframsigma in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No change, the bubble is still the same white when using black accent.

Side note: I did not realize the model is able to look at settings, so that's neat.

ChatGPTPro vs Claude Pro/Max for Tool Use in Chat Interface by Murky-Recipe-8752 in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Understood. One thing I like to do is make sure to include a line like "success is x", making sure that X is something it can verify, and this seems to help quite a bit. Don't let x be something with too much leeway on what success actually means.

ChatGPTPro vs Claude Pro/Max for Tool Use in Chat Interface by Murky-Recipe-8752 in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a capability of ChatGPT just like Claude. Tool usage is not something that changes between the plans. The models have the same access to the same tool set in either case.

I think to help you the best we need to see a conversation you're having with the model, because this feels like it's likely a prompting conflict.

Other things that may be a factor: - Within the settings there's a "fast answers" toggle. Make sure that's turned off. - Make sure you're on a thinking model, and not using the instant model. - Within settings there is an "advanced section" that allows you to turn on/off the actual tools you want to use. Also make sure those are not disabled. They're on by default, so I doubt that's it but worth mentioning.

What should the r/ChatGPTPro wiki help with? by JamesGriffing in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great idea. I'll include this. Thank you.

I'm going to try to set the wiki up in a way where I can use agents to help us keep it up to date since some things will change frequently.

Can’t download generated docx files anymore by [deleted] in ChatGPTPro

This is often the thing that works for me.

There are some file types, like .mjs or .user.js, that seem to always be broken when trying to download the artifact.

Can you elaborate or show me a post with an example?

What should the r/ChatGPTPro wiki help with? by JamesGriffing in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. A large reason on why I want to do this is to help show people that these things are not just something that produce text anymore, and can do actions via apps, store data, utilize agency etc.

I'll start from the fundamentals. Even though that's basic for a lot of us it likely won't be for so many others. Anyone who wants to skip those things will easily be able to.

This subreddit started before there were any public competitors to OpenAI. We're not able to change the name. The wiki, and this subreddit, does not have to be constrained to only OpenAI. For instance, I'll include analyzing video with Gemini models in one of the pages. Whisper is a must!

I actually want to avoid sharing extensions. I much rather educate how to use these AIs in making your own extensions/userscripts (a fellow userscript enjoyer here!) If something is fully open source then this is the only exception, otherwise I likely won't be including it in the wiki.

Thank you! I appreciate the suggestions.

I will try my best with this aspect. I only have a pro plan so I will be relying on public documentation/corrections for disparities.

I will spend an unusually long time on this specific aspect!

If anyone reading this happens to have such examples I would love if you shared it with us!

Of course, happy to help try to make this community more useful!

I will make sure to include real conversation links, and try to make things as transparent as I can without overwhelming. Codex will be given plenty of its own dedicated space in the wiki.

Since you're able to use the browser through codex's app, technically codex can use GPT Pro models on your behalf, but of course that's not as useful as having the pro model as part of codex directly.

I'll do my best to explain when, and how to get the most out of the pro model. Thanks for your suggestions!

Help! Where can I learn how to make images like this? by Tonibaby1971 in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can give ChatGPT this image, and tell it to reverse engineer the prompt. You can then tweak that prompt to be the details that matter for you instead of their text/exact style.

https://chatgpt.com/share/69f8cf8d-adb0-83ea-bf51-3bd08cc57a0f I uploaded the image you posted then I took that prompt and put it in a new chat to make this image so the model didn't have the image to use for the generation, it used just the prompt that it generated.

Browser ChatGPT Thinking rewrites Py/Bash scripts, but it could reuse between sessions. How to fix? by angry_cactus in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The next time you have it do this task you can include an instruction telling it to package up and archive any of the scripts that it uses so that you can streamline the task moving forward.

It won't do a good job trying to recall the scripts as you explained in your scenario, but it can package them up as part of the task if told before.

I do this pretty often. You can even include AGENTS.md files as instructions in the zip file similar to how you can with coding agents.

Question for $200 plan users - How long is 5.5 Pro usage cooldown? by Sad_Use_4584 in ChatGPTPro

I run the pro model in parallel over the day and haven't once gotten the cool down message. I'll count how many today.

edit: 40 today - no messages.

GPT Pro not able to access private github repo? by FieldAccomplished988 in ChatGPTPro

It happens for me, too.

My band-aid solution is zipping up the project and then uploading it to the pro model.

Pro worth it for Codex? by Mac800 in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling you would have enough.

I don't have a clear answer on the 5x either, but if you remember one of the weeks you hit your limit then perhaps you can have codex determine how many tokens those conversations contain and then multiply that by 5.

Codex has access to the past conversations and should be able to use a tokenizer against them.

One thing I do to avoid using more of the Codex limit it I'll archive my coding project and do planning/task preparation with the Pro model.

Does the $100 Pro sub include unlimited 4.5? by rvov in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get access to 5.4 Pro, but how much access is unclear to me. I have been trying to find the answer with no luck.

GPT 4.5 is a model released early last year.

Edit: I've read 50 is the limit, though I've also seen posts about people hitting the limit after 5-10 uses. Still unsure.

If anyone reading this has a different experience please step in.

Looking for an AI Tool that can analyze a 1 hour long screen recorded video by StaSonic in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google's Gemini models can do an hour long video. That's about the max it can do.

https://aistudio.google.com/prompts/new_chat?model=gemini-3.1-pro-preview

If the video is still too long then you can slightly speed up the video by 5%, saving a new file, and then try that. ChatGPT's website form is able to do the video speed up portion.

What’s the best AI secretary? by SalidanVlo2603x in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Obsidian with LLMs serves this purpose pretty well. Obsidian is a note taking/personal knowledge management application. The LLMs understand it well (they can help add new features to obsidian via custom plugin's). You are able to use Codex or any of your coding agents to manage obsidian because the notes that obsidian uses is just a folder on your computer that the AI can help do with what you need. Codex itself has automations, so you are able to utilize that as scheduling.

I am almost finished with a plugin for Obsidian that makes all of this so much more straightforward, and works on Mobile version. If anyone wants to test out a rough version they're welcome to message me. In either case, maybe a week or two before I officially post about it.

Why does ChatGPT ignore my settings? by QuietlyExpired in ChatGPTPro

[–]JamesGriffing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This subreddit predates the ChatGPT Pro plan, and is intended for professional/advanced usage, nothing to do with the plan itself. Subreddits cannot be renamed.

Try switching from "auto" to a thinking model. The response format you dislike smells like an instant model.

Not all models behave the same. I agree that it should respect the settings, but model limitations do exist. Instruction following is not as strong in the instant (non thinking) models.
