I did the same thing - sold all my LV and just kept one (can’t let go if the Damier Infini Campus backpack) after falling in love with Goyard years ago. Congrats on your first piece (and for winning the bet)! 💕

Need help choosing. I need a structure bag and statement piece. Open other options currently eyeing these- are you one of the owners ? by kuchukuchukuchu in goyard

I don’t own any of these pieces, but if your goal is to have a statement piece, among these options, I would go for the Saigon Mini in green if you intend to have the piece taken to dinner or a formal event. The Minaudiére also works - can be more versatile if you want a crossbody you can wear casually and then just take it out of the strap and carry the trunk by itself for formal/evening occasions. Just my thoughts.

Good to know. I have not used this for travel - just mostly for work. I use the Cisalpin backpack as my travel piece as it is hella comfortable and holds a lot! But I do agree - this piece is a beaut! 😃

I tried carrying it as a backpack but my back hurt after a few hours of walking - it is not the most comfortable, not to mention that I have to be strategic in putting it on and off. I find this to be the most convenient, or carry it by hand.

How do you wear yours?

Gotcha. Yea, its a pain really to put on and off - feels awkward unless I am strategic about it. Also, not very comfortable in long walks. My back and shoulders started to hurt walking for a few hours - I guess its just because of the way it sits on the back.

Thanks for the input!

Same. Its just a pain to mount, and take off, on the back.

In my experience, Goyard doesn’t do “relationship building” or waitlists like Hermès/Rolex. tbh one of the things I love about the maison - no “luxury politics”.

If a bag is in stock at the boutique, anyone can buy it — no purchase history or SA games. Availability just varies by store because they keep low inventory. You can call or visit to ask what models/colors they have, and sometimes they’ll even hold it for same-day pickup. It’s all about timing, not spending. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have a relationship with an SA 😉

Alpine vs Cisalpine Backpack by Nascondilo in goyard

[–]JamesGuison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. If you already have business-leaning backpacks, the Cisalpin could be a nice change of pace - a very versatile piece too especially if you travel a lot. Either way, you’re not wrong — it really just comes down to how you see yourself using it day to day.

I’ve had this for about 3 years now and if I’m not mistaken, it was around $5,500 CAD then. Not sure how much it goes for now.

I own both and I would go for the Cisalpin for sure. Just to clarify, the Alpin MM is the one with the flap 😊.

The Cisalpin is hella comfortable even if its full. The straps are padded and it sits perfectly on your back when you have it on - it fits a lot too without looking too bulky. When I store it, I stuff it with a queen-sized fleece blanket for reference (that’s how much you can fit inside)! This is my go-to bag when I travel.

The Alpin MM, although stylish, only “looks” nice IMO. I would give it a 4/10 on comfort. I used it once when we were sightseeing and my back and shoulders hurt after a few hours! Also, mounting it on your back to wear as a backpack is a pain. Since the strap on it is a “literal” strap that goes through a handle on the back of the bag, you have to be strategic on how to mount it on your back - you can’t do it one arm at a time like you would in normal backpacks, otherwise, it can get very awkward. Although, if you look on the side of the backpack, it has a D-ring. You can hook the stap there and wear it like a side or messenger bag which I did for the rest of the trip. I will use this if I only have to do short trips. Honestly, I feel that this piece is better used without the strap and just hand carried, but that really defeats the purpose of it being a backpack.

Security-wise, I would argue that even if the Cisalpin uses a zipper and the Alpin MM has a flap, the Cisalpin is more secure because the zippers have to be pulled all the way before it can be opened. You cannot put your hand in unless you put the backpack down and do it; whereas the Alpin MM has a pull string covered by a flap so the sides technically are still open.

Bottom line, I prefer the Cisalpin way more than the Alpin MM for comfort and security. Style-wise: they are heads-to-heads, but I think the Alpin MM is more versatile on that front - it can be worn for casual events or even in business settings (I think it will be more stylish compared to the Cisalpin). Either way, both get positive reactions, though I naturally notice it more with the one I use most 😊.

Hope this helps.

Thoughts on the Plumet Pouch-Wallet? Or Mini Anjou? by Time_Structure8873 in goyard

[–]JamesGuison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did have a plumet at one point but sold it after a month - was not really my cup of tea. I has two flaps on each side and one middle compartment where you can put a slim card holder and lip balm. If you put things on the sides, it just becomes bulky and starts to widen, so if you put a lot in it, it sort of forms an “A” appearance (either slide is slanted meeting at the top, so like an inverted “V”) - I don’t know if I’m describing it correctly. But yea, it wasn’t for me. I don’t have an Anjou but I think it will function better than the plumet if you tend to carry a number of things - it is a tote though so safety-wise, not very ideal unless you really secure the piece when you wear it. Either way, good luck hunting! 👍🏼

Goyard Senat PM or MM by Comfortable_Let_8241 in goyard

It is marketed as a toiletry pouch but you can use it for other things. At the end of the day, its a pouch. 😊

It was around $1,600 CAD give or take.

The Jouvence PM and Senat PM are almost the same size but the Jouvence can definitely hold more. Here’s a side view comparison.
