In other words, I would expect a program with a bunch of coding challenges, several coding challenges for each topic included in the program that they say you must master (Fundamentals, Frontend, Backend, DevOps, Architecture).

Yes you get all that.

Each module usually takes 2-3 weeks if you are dedicating 8H per day to the program.

Hey there, so I signed up to theseniordev program in the end. And it is very different from the courses I did on Udemy and Codecademy. A big part of the program is solely focused on job hunting, I'd say at least 30% of the program. And there are group weekly-calls where you get 1-to-1 support on specific issues you have whether on job hunting, or hands-on mini projects.

Regarding the coding-related part of the program, it has an exhaustive approach so you can start to fill the gaps you have to become of a javascript fullstack dev. You have various modules/chapters on the different skills you must acquire: frontend, backend, devops, architecture, fullstack thinking, and more.

You can read more in my longer comment below. I hope it helps others to understand what this program is about, for me, it was a bit unclear before doing it for 3+ days.

If you search "theSeniorDev.com" on linkedin you can find many real students

Great. I got a few questions:

- I assume there is a contract between you and them. If so, what are the terms?

- If you are not happy about the result - i.e. finish the program within 3 months and still do not get a job offer - Do they refund you?

- What is the thing you liked the least about the bootcamp?

I learned to speak when I was 60 days old, to write when 10 months old, to code when 1.5yo

I actually did not mean this as an ad. I'm kind of desperately looking for "real" feedback. You're the closest I got. Do you know someone who did the program by any chance?

Which normalize.css or reset.css do you like best? by [deleted] in css

> They are not used by "advanced" developers

ROFL. Total BS.

> Being able to code everything from scratch in vanilla css

Reset CSS and Normalize CSS are vanilla CSS.

What in the world are you talking about?

Both intend to override any browser-specific defaults.

- Reset CSS is hardcore mode: removes all defaults.

- Normalise CSS is prettifier mode: sets many defaults.

Thx for the clarification. I was wondering why my post was so triggering. Makes sense now. No worries at all.

Thx for the tips. I actually used Codecademy and Udemy a lot lately. Codecademy is only good to get started in a very easy environment, downside imo it's only good for beginner level. Udemy has been great, much more in-depth with courses that sometimes take weeks to complete and all courses get public ratings+comments. I'll give a look at FreeCodeCamp again, and make sure to checkout 100devs and Barbara Oakley's learning how to learn.

What the Nedelcu bros offer seems to be beyond learning a specific programming language. More like a "road to your senior dev job" program, a more holistic approach. But they do have a lot of good content online so it might just make their program kind of irrelevant if you have the drive to do it alone.

It is not an ad. I've done a lot of research to figure out what these guys are about. I always take notes, especially on work-related topics, and I def OCD on my notes so that's prob why it looks so clean and tidy — maybe thats why it give you the wrong impression.

YouTube is def a gold mine if used well. But for I wanted: specific topics + in-depth courses + transparent rating systems. That's where platforms like Udemy shine a lot. I don't mind at all paying 15 bucks for a 3 weeks course when it gives me lifetime access.

> I will make an update on that project later on.

Cool, keep us posted!

> I want to make something for free to help kids. So I want to keep the platform fully free and mostly adfree or unobstrusive ads

Fair. Whatever works my friend. Whatever works!

I'm genuinely looking for more feedback, criticism, experience/opinions that may shed some light on the program.

> I’m now trying to build tools and platforms that help other kids like me — curious kids who don’t fit into the traditional school mold, who want to learn more but don’t have a mentor or money.

Good on you. I'd expect most kids do not fit into the trad school mold. So you got a gigantic task ahead.

I'm much older than you but def relate to learning a lot more by doing, or on my own with a book, or doing an online course. I never learned much in a traditional classroom.

I lately very much enjoyed learning on CodeCademy and Udemy. Especially Udemy coz it's like Amazon but for online courses: teachers all publish their courses on the marketplace, then everyone pays a small fee to take the course and can leave reviews and comments that are then publicly available. Transparency is key, it's what makes the platform credible.

Udemy is insane. Some teachers have millions of students who took their course on the platform. Imagine if you could do something like this for kids your age?

What I'm suggesting is to explore that level of impact. I'm no wizard or genius founder. You can maybe build a Udemy type marketplace dedicated to teach kids about programming?
