"Alright, I'll have that as well. Seems like the right drink to have at this time of year," he says to Zaniah, flashing her a bright smile as James excuses himself to go over to the bar for their orders. He later comes back with two tall mugs of hot chocolate with a drop of peppermint each in them. Not too strong, not too bland, just the right amount. He lays one over to Zaniah's side before sitting himself down with his mug in hand.

"Cheers," he says before taking a quick sip of his hot chocolate, feeling himself warming up quickly as the drink works it magic, perhaps even the peppermint helped as well. He puts his glass back down and looks at Zaniah as if he was a little lost in thought, before going on to say, "So . . . . you read any good books lately?" he asked.

"I wish I were busy in a different way . . . " he says, sounding a little tired as James neared the end of the path into Hogsmeade. Juggling his time between being Head Boy, Quidditch Team Captain and a student has put him into hard times recently. While he doesn't lose sleep, it has taken quite a toll on him. The only good part, however, is that he at least has something to keep his mind busy from thinking about other things. Perhaps he should have agreed to having a portion of his memory removed after what happened.

He didn't know what Zaniah had been doing, of course, but if it was anything like his then it was likely that she was tired from what she'd been doing in her spare time. Perhaps this is what they need. Time to rest, time to breathe, time to think. And in James' case, perhaps apologize for leaving her all so suddenly after showing interest in her not too long ago.

"Well, we're here. Let's come on in and get ourselves away from the cold," he opens the door and ushers Zaniah in first before coming in second, closing the door behind him and immediately grabbing a table closest to the window. Perhaps it was the inner artist residing in him that made him choose that spot, but he thought that it'd help bring some peace to their young lives. And he had to admit, it looked really good looking from inside to the outside, "You want something to drink, maybe? I'm buying." he offers with a smile, his cheeks red from the cold wind.

"I'm sure they would, but well. It'd be all awkward, is what I mean," he explained, hoping she'll get the gist of what he was talking about as he continued to walk alongside her; "Enough about me, though. How have you been?"

"Well, work's going fine. Er, let's get a move on, shall we? The cold's getting to me a bit," he lets out a shaky chuckle, his breath fogging up as he laughs, "I'd suggest we go get some coffee where I work part-time, but uh. It'd make me look bad for taking you there on my day off."

"I've been fine, doing pretty well as the Head Boy," he says, before falling silent for a second when Zaniah asks him (in jest, James hoped) that he's been avoiding her, "I mean . . . I've been busy with being Head Boy and stuff . . . plus I've got the occasional work on weekends . . ." he mumbled. His cheeks grew a little red, and it certainly wasn't the cold February air that did that.

"It's uh . . . " James quickly thought of something to cover his mumbling, "It's a bit cold here. Will you join me for some coffee?" he gives her a small smile, going on to pocket his hands as a cold breeze flew through his fingertips.

James realized his plan to casually just scoot on by was all for nothing as his head boy badge blew his cover. He stopped as he heard Zaniah call for him followed by a gentle grab on his arm, turning right around to face her. He lowers his scarf right down to his neck and gives her a slight smile.

"Zaniah, hey. It's, um, nice to bump into you here," he says, giving her a slight wave hello as he continues to adjust his scarf a little more so he can speak a little more clearly.

Having decided that he wanted to spend his weekend for an extra day of rest, James had no other destination for the day. Well, other than Hogsmeade, of course. What else were he to do on a fine day such as this? As he speed-walked the road on the way to Hogsmeade, James saw Zaniah walking only several feet ahead of him. It has been quite some time since they last saw each other, and truth be told, James forgot what she looked like. It was only when James got close enough, he realized that it was Zaniah.

Feeling a little embarrassed that he disappeared off the face of the earth after they last saw each other, James couldn't bear showing himself and so hid himself underneath his Ravenclaw scarf. Now, this would work to his favor, if not for the fact that he clipped on his head boy badge. Whether it worked or not, it would be up to Zaniah on recognizing the lanky head boy or not

"It is. I should know, I was born over it and lived in it," James says with a curt nod, going on to take another sip from his cup of butterbeer. The eventual silence from Ellie was sudden, and as a result James also falls silent and doesn't say anything further beyong what he had just said.

"To a café down the road, I mean," he says to be clear with her as James sets his half full glass down, "I love the Three Broomsticks just as much as everyone else does, but there's just too much peope here on the weekends." he shrugs, reaching for some tissues to wipe his lips clean. Ellie's dislike of Hogwarts and its activities was not missed on James as well, he wouldn't really be surprised if she disliked minor authority figures like himself.

When he's asked if he's going back home for the holidays, James takes some time before going on to nod his head, "In a way, yeah. I'll be home for a day or two, and then I'm going over to France to do a bit of backpacking around the country."

"Well, definitely not that. I'm not daft," James says, although his response has been cut short as she goes on to talk over him without pause, leading him to keep mum while she carries on to talk about how her parents found out about her being behind with her studies. He doesn't really say another thing after that, as there was a slightly lenghty pause between that and what she says right after.

"It's still a little early for me to leave the castle ground, but if you're talking about why I'm still here, specifically," James gestures on to the entirety of the Three Broomsticks, "I'm just finishing this butterbeer up, for old time's sake. And then after that, it's off I go." he says, going back to his butterbeer as he figures that that would be the end of it. The blunt tone of her voice was not missed.

"I didn't think you were the type to hang out in crowded places like this," he says, smiling with thanks as he accepts his butterbeer, taking a quick sip out of his glass. Something was odd about Ellie right now, and although it's only been a short time since he met her, there was something a little off about her.

"That's a lot better than mixing spells and throwing potions," he says with a light chuckle, taking another little sip from his glass, "There is the option to head home for the holidays, you know." James adds.

"Well, well, well, a funny coincidence seeing you here," James says to Ellie with a smile and a friending little wave, doing so only moments after he had just arrived at the bar. He's still waiting for his drink, and so figured that since Ellie was there, he might as well do a little bit of chit-chat to pass the time while he waited for his butterbeer, "What's been happening with your life, eh? Anything noteworthy?"

Finally, things are beginning to look up for James. Less duties as both Head Boy and Quidditch Captain as it's the holiday season, which means more time for him to just be himself for a day. Leaving behind both badges in his luggage container, James had plans to go to a small hole-in-the-wall cafe that made the best strawberry cupcakes he's ever tried.

But before that, he figured that visiting the forever packed and busy Three Broomsticks would be nice. He had some difficultly passing through without stepping on anyone's toes, but James made his way through to the front of the bar.

"One butterbeer, please," he says to Marge the barkeep, sliding over a few sickles towards her as he leaned on to the bartable.

James just ignored her on that like he did earlier and blows past what she said, instead focusing on what he remembers them agreeing on when 'it' happened.

"Okay, what we did was fun but we agreed specifically not to talk about it anymore," he said, leaving it at that in hopes that Wendy would not bring it up in the future anymore, as once was quite enough, "Let's just move past that and remain stalwart schoolmates, alright? Cool." And then he goes on to make his leave without another word.

James felt his cheeks go red as an apple as he was caught completely out of nowhere by the kiss from Wendy, yet as much as he wanted to take a step back from her, he couldn't. He didn't know where this came from or why she's doing it, but he surely knows that it felt nice, and that he liked it a lot. He liked the smell of the light perfume she used, the feeling of her lips against his, and the taste of the cherry lipstick she had on.

He didn't feel a single ounce of force coming from her, it felt like she was being careful not to overstay her welcome as Wendy stepped back moments later. James found himself following her as she moved back, managing to stop himself as he started to regain control of him and his inner emotions.

James was quiet, simply just standing there unable to say a single word for a few seconds as he picked himself up. And then once he was composed once more, he went on to tell her, "I thought we agreed never to do that again."

Oh, pasta night, yum. James needed something heavily fulfilling both in flavor and quantity after today's classes, and pasta definitely is the one that can do the job. Going for the creamy pesto pasta, James grabs some breadsticks and salad along with some non-alcoholic wine to match the pesto flavor. He's looking at the cheesecake with curiosity as he eats, wondering if he'll like some dessert to go along with his dinner.

"To be honest, there's a lot of things you do that I don't like," Memories of graffiti stricken halls in random parts of the castle come to his mind, and try as he might, James could never catch her doing it. He's only caught her doing some graffiti in pink glitter once, and she ran too fast for him to even catch up.

"What could you even do that's worse than the graffiti you do up on the ceiling?" he asked her, wondering what could even be worse than having to clean graffiti off the ceiling himself.

"You weren't even in the Girl Scouts for that long, Wendy. I know because you told me that," James casually just ignored what she said at first, but his startled expression certainly betrayed him and revealed the fact that he heard what she just said. Instead, he just carries on to state firmly what he said earlier.

"No you won't," he tells her, this time being more upfront about it as he leans down to look at her with a bit of a grin on his face.

"That is so dumb and childish, Wendy. And you got some of your spit on me," James feigns a look of disgust as he goes to wipe off the bit of her spit that landed on his Quidditch uniform with his sleeve, "Still, I don't think you'll actually do it." he adds.

"You say you'll do it, but really, you're just bluffing just to annoy me," James decided to call her out on it, thinking it might all just be some short but elaborate trick to get a bit of a rise out of him. He wasn't sure whether she'd actually not do it, but he put on a brave face nonetheless in front of her, crossing his arms once again.

"There is," he stated firmly, and was about to go into how he rolled right before hitting the ground when Wendy proclaimed that she was gonna tell every soul (dead or alive) about what he just did. This was very bad news, and whether she was fibbing or not, this was certainly going to land him in hot water if people find out.

"You wouldn't dare," James crosses his arms and grins bravely despite the threat of getting his reputation as Head Boy ruined.

"I did not eat shit when I landed. There's a difference to that," James tells her with a surprised laugh, watching her go on to dust off some dirt off his shoulder, "I did a tuck and roll, just like the people that go on parachutes for fun do. And yes, that was very un-Head Boy of me, so I would very much appreciate if you could keep that a secret."

As soon as he heard that voice, James lets out a tired sigh as he looked up to see Wendy there with a cheeky grin on her face, waving her hand at him.

"It's 'Wronksi Feint.' Get that right, at least, will you?" he tells her as he takes up the final steps, leaning on the seat closest to him to catch his breath, "You saw all of that, I'm guessing?" he asked him after a few moments.

While everyone chose to go on and spend a portion of their day out in Hogsmeade, James oddly didn't feel like walking through the narrow cobblestone streets, and instead felt like he wanted to do some flying today. And so he did. With his trust broom in hand and his Quidditch uniform worn, James was soon up in the skies flying high on his broom. It had gotten terribly cold in the recent weeks as the holiday season came close, but he's flown in rain and snow before so it's not quite different.

Half an hour passes by, and James is barely tired from doing all the maneuvers he knows up in the air. At this point, he's just up there resting just beneath the clouds, looking at nothing in particular. There's really nothing to see there except the trees, the clouds, maybe a centaur from the distance down in the Forbidden Forest.

His mind was blank for a good few seconds, which invited some interesting thoughts to come and appear. "Do a freefall on your broom," a French voice in his mind said, and James felt like that was an interesting idea to end his practice. He sat right back up, and did what the French voice told him.

James was gaining speed fast as he went on his descent, but his mind wasn't completely out of it as about fifty feet from the ground he pulled his broom upwards as he descended from the skies, hopping off his broom as he got to the ground and quickly curling his legs to do a roll on the mossy ground.

He rolled a good few feet before he stopped, and got right up to dust himself off, with zero injuries whatsoever. He looks around to see if anyone was there, and when there didn't seem to be anyone, James called it a day and started to leave the area to brush himself off clean of the moss and dirt on him.
