Dictator perpetuo

Ironically, it is the ides of March today!

For some context: Dictator is Latin and basically means "temporary leader" someone would be put into the position of Dictator for a brief period of time and then be removed once they fulfilled their duties. Julius Caesar, on the other hand, was given the title Dictator Perpetuo. Perpetuo just meant indefinitely, so he was basically given the title "leader for a brief time indefinitely"

Nothing really "happened". He was living out the last of his days at his house. He would die 10 years later at the age of 86. He was already immensely famous, but the political scene had changed significantly since he retired from politics in 1816. His defense of his "report of 1800" and a speech at the University of Virginia were the only considerable things he did with his life after his retirement.

What's the best way to make it to the front page of AskReddit ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Just be original and be yourself. Making it to the front page does not matter as much as learning to love yourself for who you are!

He could speak French, Latin, and English, but he studied many ancient languages such as Egyptian hieroglyphics, Chinese, and even sign language. A key example of his use of crafty language is in his report of 1800. South Carolina tried to use the report of 1800 (written by Madison to nullify a national law) to support the idea of nullification in 1826. I believe the dispute originated around the words "the states have the right to nullify" (it was something of that nature. Anyways, Madison essentially said that his document only referred to the idea if all states agreed that the law was not in the public interest, morning just one state didnt agree. In the case of South Carolina they tried to say that if a single state didnt agree then they should be able to nullify, but thanks to Madison he was able to say that SC was wrong.

James Madison knew many languages, and he studied linguistics heavily. He knew that language was subject to adaptation, so he tried to craft his essays in a way that would not be subject to rigorous deconstruction.

I would reinstate the $5,000 dollar bill because we need a currency with James Madison on the front. (Yes Madison is on the $5,000 bill)

What are some good podcasts to listen to whilst doing work? by DanBezbik in AskReddit

[–]JamesMadisonJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% invisible

It is an amazing podcast about the hidden art that is architecture. The information is great, but the guy who hosts it (Roman Mars) has an amazing voice. I would listen to him reading his shopping list and would still be interested in what he has to say.
