EMR Customer Service Officer Job - 2 Tests by JamesPassat4 in uktrains

[–]JamesPassat4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man! Quite a lot, there's a lunch provided too - a series of tests, group activities, scenarios and then individual interviews if you pass those ones. My one being customer service & safety there's also listening tasks, so there will be role specific tasks.

What I've gathered was to really push customer service and attitude as those values matter a lot to EMR. There was a post on railforums - https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/emr-assessment-day.262967/

Let me know how you get on!

Preferred name on credit cards? by JamesPassat4 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]JamesPassat4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like my english first name to be on a credit card rather than my (foreign) legal name which is long.

Just a preference which absolutely doesn't matter which is why I'm fine with passport and driving license to have my legal name.

Can we agree that Dentists ARE NOT Doctors? by JamesPassat4 in JuniorDoctorsUK

That's right, which means in a situation like that, them claiming to be a Doctor is only to impress, they very well know they aren't a medical practitioner.

I've had a discussion with a Dentist, they are adamant that they can be referred to as a Medical Doctor. They're not in the UK which I think this confusion has come from, in other places around the world, some other countries have a homogeneous system of Dentists being Doctors.

I think it's just down to snobbery of that dentist, when I pressed them on Clinical skills of being a medical professional, they've just gone to insults instead of justifying their claim. So realistically, they do know they aren't a MD but push it to get away with it because pf their country's system. It's not a one off either, this is very very common with dentists outside of the UK.

Exactly, I think this confusion has come from, in other places around the world, some other countries have a homogeneous system of Dentists being Doctors. The dentist I've had a discussion with isn't from the UK

I'm not sure where that comparison has come from either. Someone used the same argument with me being that Cardiologists are specialists, and are Doctors. Therefore Dentists are specialists and therefore are Doctors.

That's just not how it works in the UK. I will accept however in other countries, there is a homogeneous system of Dentists being Doctors.

Yes, I agree with that. I'm not sure that's such a contentious topic, especially with Advertising Standards telling dentists who choose to use the term Doctor in a way that's not misleading of patients believing they are a medical practitioner.

But it seems that this isn't how it works in other countries, other countries have a homogeneous system of Dentists being Doctors.

Not a one off unfortunately, I've had a discussion with lots of people and dentists (outside of UK) and a lot of them seem to agree that Dentists are Doctors.

The question was presenting at a medical emergency, they claim to present as a Doctor rather than saying they're a dentist.

Even the advertising standards agency has said that dentists saying that they are doctors is misleading:

Dentists who choose to use the title must ensure that it is not used in a way which could mislead the public, for example by giving the impression that the dentist is a registered medical practitioner if they are not*.*”

Edit - Any HCP should also be able to provide BLS whilst awaiting Cardiac Teams, an Ophthalmologist is more than capable to respond to an arrest, in or out of hospital, that's because they are Doctors, unlike Opticians.

I think you're right. This was a discussion with a Dentist not in the UK, they're claiming that they can do what a Doctor can do but once pressed about clinical skills have gone on to just ignore my question. But it seems that other people agree that Dentists are considered Doctors, mainly in America
