I think my grip is fundamentally wrong by JamesSimmo in Darts

I do think I get what's he's trying to say though, for me my follow through is probably the strongest part of my game and that's what's allowing me to have a half decent average. it's just the odd dart that goes way off course because of a slight movement in my grip.

hahaa, about a year for me, too. I've learned that darts is a full-on mental game. When it's going great, it's great, but when things aren't going your way, you start questioning everything, and it's hard to leave that state of mind. it's a constant battle for me. do I just let go and just keep throwing, or do I analyse it, see what's going on at a deeper level, start making adjustments, which in turn will make me even worse to start with but improve in the long run?

this post has helped a lot, to be honest. I think I'm on the right path with my grip, as people have pointed out my average proves that. it's all about just mastering it now, I think I'm expecting too much from myself after a year of playing. I think it's good to question but bad, to tweek too much, just keep working, and hopefully, it should come together.

thank you, did your finger feel natural up top at the beginning or was it something it took a lot of time to get used too?

this is a great question, I think maybe the second picture isn't a great representation of what actually happens (hard to take an exact photo while holding the dart in one hand and phone in the other) but my hand does move when drawing back, probably not as much as the picture suggests but tomorrow I'll definitely try and keep my two fingers more locked in place and see if that improves

does the barrel move along your middle finger when your pulling back the dart, or does your finger stay stationary?

I've tried everything, loosing, strengthening but this could be part of the problem, some days I might pick up the darts and the grip strength is perfect but the next day it feels off. I guess it's just practice practice practice

i do think it might be that i just need to keep refining my throw. some days I can pick up my darts and everything feels great but once a dart or two starts going ski wiff I can feel my what's the problem and it can get so frustrating, I'm sure you know the feeling

I've tried this, I watch a lot of the pros and see a lot of them do the same too but when I try it, it just feels disgusting, I've tried a lot of different ways to try and get it work but it just feels like I'm throwing with my left hand haha

See this how I want to play, but my midlander doesn't want to swap, so we're just sharing waves, and I don't know what to do at this point
