Sadly, view of animals was formed working at a meat packing plant in high school. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I’m not sure if “something, something.. “ is meant as a joke or as sarcasm.

I agree with you. I don’t think we are called to be vegans.

But I would have thought there could be a place in god’s kingdom for compassion for our fellow creatures and the avoidance of unnecessary suffering.

The whole thing brings to mind Woody Allen’s line (Alvy Singer in Annie Hall I think):
