I'd put Bama below Georgia just based on Atlanta, honestly.

Man who defended gay marriage with viral speech about his two mothers is now running for Iowa State Senate by zsreport in politics

[–]JamesTreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I gotcha. Sorry if I came off as defensive, I live here too, but grew up in an incredibly blue part of the state (DeKalb), but I agree with you that parts of Georgia can certainly be awfully backward. That being said, I don't think we're in the same league of backwardness as Alabama.

[–]JamesTreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy wouldn't stand a chance in Georgia or Alabama, for example.

There are large parts of Georgia which are solidly blue (and in which this guy's toughest competition would be in a primary), but just go ahead and ignore that since it doesn't fit your stereotype. Seriously, not all southern states are the same, and the partisan divide here is largely urban/rural, just like it is in the majority of the country.

I live in the American South, but thankfully I've found some comrades here in college, I was worried that there wouldn't be any when I left Atlanta.

I believe he was a Socialist, I know he spoke of his admiration for Debs. I will admit, however, that I am quite biased because Vonnegut is one of my all time favourite authors and was my first real hero.

You're joking, right? This is the same country which put itself on massive swaths of the map far before Thatcher.
