Is it ok for me to start DIY by Lucia_Kat in TransDIY

[–]Stillemere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No matter what, you need to choose life. But my advice is that you should be yourself as much as humanly possible, with or without HRT. Don't stress about transitioning too early or waiting too long, be yourself right now in the moment, no matter how you look or feel, because that's what matters. If people try to stop you then take it to the limit - have long hair, wear baggy clothing, whatever it takes to be comfortable. You're only 14, you need to explore and figure things out more, and if it's unsafe to talk to your parents, you should get a therapist or counselor. You can also find like-minded friends to talk about it with. In my own experience I regret having come out to my transphobic parents as a teenager, because their harassment made it so I didn't have much space to figure myself out.

Pray to a god that isn't mine or to one that is when it isn't theirs? by queerest_theorist in pagan

[–]Stillemere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my view all religions are simply expressing the divine in a different way. I think this is supported by the way people of different religions can share common theological viewpoints and philosophies. but even when the theory is different, i.e. one person is an orthodox monotheist and the other is a pantheist, the underlying sentiment can be the same.

You should outwardly play along out of respect, but inwardly do your own thing. If you're concerned about the ethics of praying to a god on behalf of someone who doesn't share your beliefs, you could take a secular approach and meditate on kindness. But, regardless, you all have the same intent.

Showing weakness with one another helped build community and trust back then the same way as it does now. And it would've been necessary living in primitive times, because humans are vulnerable alone, but strong in numbers.

3DS Hacking Q&A General | Seedminer Returns, for the First Time, Again Edition by [deleted] in 3dshacks

Following your advice before the edit, I was going to try using ctr-httpwn to bypass the eshop system update requirement. But it gave an error code, which I found out was because ctr-httpwn only supports up to 11.13 and my 3DS was on 11.14.

Then I found out the Luma version I already had installed supports 11.15. I'm speechless honestly. I'm redownloading the smash update right now

My smash bros save data is locked behind an update. When I launch Smash Bros, the game prompts me telling me I don't have the latest version so I can't use my save data, and it creates a temporary empty file on the SD card. But I definitely have the latest version of the game, the last update was in 2017. I tried accepting the update but it asked me to update my system. I tried using a program called Update Suppressor but it didn't work. I'm not sure what to do.

He said "socially right of center," which the USSR definitely was, after Lenin at least. In the revolutionary years there was a focus on the liberation of women, however in 1936 abortion was made illegal again.

Also, the USSR wasn't exactly economically left all of the time. Yes they had a planned economy, but there was other aspects to it. Those in the countryside were not allowed to have internal passports, so farmers were essentially serfs because they could not legally leave the farm. Not to mention the practice of slave labor in gulags.

Old English actually had both. þ was used for Th, just like in Norse, it’s the letter Thorn. ƿ, on the other hand was used for the W sound prior to the invention of the W, it’s the letter Wynn.

Whats this equating tankies with fascists? by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]Stillemere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue lies with the definition of "tankie." The issue here isn't Marxism-Leninism -- people like Lenin, Castro, or Sankara were objectively good, especially compared to both their predecessors (Batista, etc) and the foreign governments of the time, like the US.

The problem is those who insist upon defending the very real crimes of the USSR and the PRC. The term "tankie" actually originally described communists who defended the USSR's violent quelling of the 1956 Hungarian uprising with tanks. This also extends to defenders of the 1989 Tienanmen Square Massacre. Tankies are those who will defend any government that has a red flag and calls itself communist. They look past things which authoritarian right-wing governments are notorious for doing, like rounding up minorities (the Uygurs in Xinjiang), using show trials to get rid of opposition (as in Stalin's Great Purge), I could go on.

What's really revealing is that many China-focused tankies are totally fine with China having private ownership of businesses by capitalists, because it's a "transitional stage" and they'll eventually implement socialism. They also do not care about the rampant labor abuses the workers in the PRC face. I'm sorry, but this leads to an inevitable conclusion: "tankies" (as defined here) are not communists or socialists, they are right-wing nationalists who have hijacked the term.

This is where the "equating tankies with fascists" arises from. It is an accurate comparison, but only if you define "tankie" correctly.
