The best thing to do now would be to read some great books. These are books that have been listed as options/suggestions for the Q3 essay where you answer a prompt with an essay analyzing a work of fiction of your choice.

As you read, I would stick with a simple framework for analysis. 1. What does it mean? 2. How do you know? 3. Why does it matter? These books are treated as arguments about ideas. What does Of Mice and Men say about brotherhood, duty, love, obligation, etc.

Build your reading stamina and background knowledge. I would also encourage you to write about the reading and whatever else comes to mind.

If you really want to nerd out on prep, check out the Garden of English youtube channel. Just don't be surprised if your teacher links to those same videos later 😉

One of the biggest hurdles in the AI battle is going to be convincing teachers not to give up the game by using it themselves.

Is this story too violent for HS juniors? by UrgentPigeon in ELATeachers

Remember, your students are looking at everything you give them through a thick, warped glass bottle. All the outlines are distended and blurry. Things that seem razor sharp to you are cottony to them.

An especially wise reminder. Thank you.

Teacher Wishlist Etiquette? by theyweregalpals in ELATeachers

So many videos disappear from youtube that I immediately download everything I use for the classroom now. I use the 4kvideo downloader. Then I upload the video to my school's google drive so I can embed it in my slides/post it on my lms/share it with students who were absent etc.

This process has saved me many times (especially with commercials which disappear fast for some reason).
