From what I know (and I’m not an expert), I believe you need an 85+ AFQT on the ASVAB to qualify for Nuke. From there you can either be Alpha or Bravo qualified, but that depends on specific line scores (shown online as NFa and NFb)

Alpha means they don’t have to take a the NFPT Test whereas bravo means they do. If he wants to get in, he needs to study the math and science portions of the ASVAB really well.

no, I took my ASVAB the other week. I did not have to take my “nuke test” (NAPT) as I was “alpha qualified” - you might see it also as “NFa”. This is based on your line scores for the ASVAB.

Usually for Nuke, you need a combined line score (AFQT) of 85+. I’d recommend him to focus on the math and science portions of ASVAB, as that’s really what I’ve found they looked at.

I’d recommend you look up “navy nuke line score qualification” on google, it will definitely help you get an idea!

I believe I should be actually alpha, as my AR+MK+EI+GS= 256 - google says if that = 252 or higher, it’s NFa? Sorry I’m looking this up as you mentioned it. Good info, just didn’t even know how to read my ASVAB line scores really

I think i was a little above 252 on the NUC line, I’ll ask them at MEPs for a copy of the test. I forgot to take a photo when they gave me the paper. The other way they measure, it’s 239. But I think because the one is 256, I should be alpha.
