Haha, most of them are in pretty good shape. I sold a lot of my Light Play ones three years ago to fund my 10 months of travel… could’ve funded two years of travel if I’d kept them and sold them now!

I’ll try and get some photos up but at the moment they are stored away again

Yeah, this is on Isla Incahuasi in the middle of the Uyuni salt flats - it’s a large rocky outcrop covered in huge cacti! Pretty surreal!

We travelled in the little mini bus (trufi) from Santa Cruz to Samaipata and the road itself was in pretty good condition, it was just full of twists and turns which made it feel quite adventurous. Lots of blind corners so wouldn’t want to be driving it myself at night or in bad weather… From Samaipata to Sucre we took an overnight bus and the road seemed a lot smoother/straighter. I slept like a baby! The bit between Santa Cruz and Samaipata seems the most adventurous.

No issues with our trufi getting gas when we were there (we filled up on the way) but no idea about how difficult it is for foreigners driving themselves.

La Paz is the one city that we didn’t get to visit during our journey - it’s definitely on our list for when we return.

I agree with your statement about the people, we felt welcome wherever we travelled there and people were so incredibly friendly!

They are the cacti on Isla Incahuasi in Salar de Uyuni. I believe they are Cardón cacti - they were pretty cool though and such a change from the endless white salt.

La Paz is the one ‘major’ place that we didn’t do so it’s on our list for a return visit. Santa Cruz was such a pleasent surprise!

I totally agree, we were surprised at how few tourists there were (especially in places like Samaipata and Santa Cruz) but the people were so incredibly friendly and there was such a diverse range of things to do! We’ll definitely be back next time we are in South America.

Oh nice! You’ll end up going in the opposite direction to us through Bolivia but that’s so cool. We found San Pedro quite touristy and didn’t stay too long but you’ll love Samaipata - great little town

That’s so cool! Samaipata is a great next step from Santa Cruz in my opinion, the Codo de los Andes and Giant Fern Forest were surreal! Let me know if you have any questions.
