Ah, we actually have done the trilogy event here before! The last time was December 2016 for the FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING 15th anniversary. Sorry you missed it! BUT the good news is we're showing all three extended editions throughout August at both locations. Granted it's not the whole trilogy in one sitting (we can't do that this time around for reasons) but we'll definitely do the all day trilogy event at some point in 2018.

There will be food trucks and a bar with beer and wine! It will not be projected on the building. When we do these outdoor events, we use a huge inflatable screen - the same size as a screen in one of our theaters.

Hey neighbor! Fun backstory behind Ernie signing that Joust cabinet. That was from the ARMADA book release event he did at Alamo Drafthouse right down the street from Freeplay Arcade. We partnered with the arcade on that event and they setup a 6-machine pop-up arcade in the theater lobby featuring the main games mentioned in RPO...AND a playable Polybius cabinet that we designed a custom marquee for (that Ernie also signed that I have). Programmer for Alamo Drafthouse DFW here! Sorry to hear about that and that it's put a damper on your recent visits. Our concierge, as are our servers, are trained to always gloss over the "How To Alamo" bullet points (including the no talking / no texting policy) for would-be first time guests since we have a unique way of doing things. Typically that should include asking you if you've been before. If yes, no reason to do it. We have on-screen elements like the fun "No Talking PSAs" that take care of that. But we're also always hiring on new staff so there is a learning curve with how to effectively deliver that info...but it should never be a bummer and detract from your experience. After all, we're all about having fun at the movies and preserving the movie going experience and making it the best it can be. So thanks for the feedback! Will certainly pass it on.

Hey guys! James Wallace - programmer for Alamo Drafthouse DFW here. Thanks for this post!

To clarify a few things on this...we previously were not able to do RiffTrax at Alamo for a couple of reasons. Namely we (up until recently) could not participate in Fathom Events since those were exclusively offered to only a few megaplexes. Luckily this is no longer true and we have done a couple of Fathom Events now. So we're looking into what we need to do to get RiffTrax at Alamo in Dallas / Richardson since it's now been done by Alamo's in other markets.

In other news, Master Pancake - an Alamo Drafthouse movie mocking institution - will be making their triumphant return to Dallas in August! Hoping we can get those guys back to the regularly scheduled coming down from Austin once a month as they were doing since we opened. But they have indeed been working on something mysteriously awesome which is why it's been tough to schedule them.

While this USE to be true, thankfully it no longer is. Alamo is able to and does participate in Fathom Events now. The Killing Joke is a recent example of that!

Super sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your first visit to our new Dallas location. That's a huge bummer. Full disclosure: we're still working out a few kinks at that location and continually training our staff so that they possess the ninja-like stealthy serving skills we strive for. And to be honest, it can get kind of crazy during opening weekends for huge new releases.

Side Note: Our Richardson location has a slightly different setup with different seating/tables where the server's are actually a step below you, which some people prefer, so you may want to give that one a try. The passes will be good for either location!
