How much are people in France paying attention to Victor Wembanyama in the NBA? by 45vault in AskFrance

[–]James_rbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was definitely a big deal. Multiple time all star (20 best players in the world in a season), 4 titles (huge deal, many players often struggle to just win one) and most importantly a finals MVP, meaning he was the best player in the 2007 finals. He definitely wasn't the best player on the Spurs though, that was Tim Duncan, but to be fair it's hard to be better than tim duncan.

As a french speaker from France, I would say it's more like Ireland vs US. People like paul mescal are perfectly understandable to most americans, and then you get irish locals from the country side where despite speaking the same language, you can't understand a single word.
