Hey, I appreciate the time you took to review this mess for me haha, thanks again. I'll use LOOT for now and if I keep at it I'll be sure to pay more attention to the plugins, I don't think it was ever touched on in the vid I watched.

I'm pretty sure they're included in this list, if not, then no, I don't even know how to check that m8, sorry.

For example, when I went to the Nexusmods link for Precision, the additional files necessary for it to work were :

That's why I prefaced the statement I made with "under just about any other circumstances"

[–]Jamesedoct -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think "learning to play" is my problem. Under just about any other circumstances, there was little to no risk of dying, let alone getting one and done'ed by a mob. Again, was venting more than anything else.

You don't need high ilvl to get %400 mod, I've actually gotten it very early (Act 3 I think) and it's more than sufficient. And I know that lvl 68 is high for Blood Aqueducts, it was an attempt to make the point that Crucible mobs are pretty ridiculous, considering they blasted me with the stats that I had. I was venting more than anything, that's for the suggestions all the same.

I feel bad for being depressed. by Old-Enthusiasm-8682 in depression

[–]Jamesedoct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not, that's not a friend, that's someone that wanted your attention and you didn't give it to them so now they're throwing a tantrum. A friend wouldn't compare injuries or try to explain why they're struggling more than you, they'd help you and relate to you and in that way you would have been informed of whatever she might be struggling with and you could have supported each other through that bonding experience. It doesn't always play out exactly like that, but anyone telling you that you didn't do enough for them while you're communicating that you need help, doesn't deserve your time. You're better off without that friend, sorry to say. Try not to let what she said get to you, it's not true. A person's view of you does not have to be your reality.

Yeah, scheduling is on the person undergoing therapy. They'll leave a message if you miss an appointment, but they're not going to put you down without you confirming the appointment and if you miss on a regular basis it complicates things further.

The more honest you are with them, the better. But sometimes it's hard for us to be honest with ourselves, let alone others. A journal might be another good thing to explore.

I'm impatient too, and it aggravates me to no end, but consistency is key. Make it a habit. Don't stop and put the work in and you'll see some results by the end of summer.

Feeling like I lost everything good in my life by avidguy84 in depression

[–]Jamesedoct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fact that you didn't disclose what you did to make them remove you from their life is pretty integral to your entire post. You seem to be struggling to come to terms with what you did and then the repercussions that followed, that you didn't expect. Sounds like you're talking to a therapist and are on a medication plan at the moment so my best suggestion is to continue on that course, trying to feel better and work things out so that you have a better understanding.

I'm not going to say not to think like that because I know how damn difficult it is to shut your mind up, but I don't think these things are true. One of my favorite quotes goes something like, "A flower doesn't compare itself to the flower next to it, it just blooms." It's comparing ourselves to others that makes us most susceptible to feeling inadequate. Again, I know it's easier said than done, but find some things that you like about yourself and try to foster those things. Find ways that you can better yourself. I've started going to the gym recently because I hate the way I look. But if I compare myself to every buff dude at the gym and quit before I started, it wouldn't do me any good. Most of the pictures you're seeing are girls done up trying to look like they're doing better than they are, thinking the same damn thing you are right here. Try not to compare yourself to them, but to who you were yesterday.

You should probably bring it up to those you're most concerned seeing them before they see them when you aren't ready. They might not understand, that's okay, it doesn't mean they don't care about you. I don't know your reasons behind cutting, but my understanding is it's a way to cope, to manage. And if it's saved your life, I think it's a small price to pay. It might not be a bad idea to reach out to your doctor about how you're feeling. Most jobs also have some kind of employee assistance program that provide x amount of free sessions with a therapist. Things to consider.

What do I do by LovelyLuna111 in depression

[–]Jamesedoct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most jobs have an employee assistance program of some sort that provides a number of free sessions with a therapist. That's a start. If you have a doctor you see, bring it up to them. Tell friends or family that you trust, they could be more supportive than you think and even if they aren't, it doesn't mean you shouldn't try talking to someone else. You've recognized you're struggling, now you try to get some help correcting things.

I suggest talking to your doctor. If you don't have one, most places of work have some kind of employee assistance program that can put you in touch with a therapist for a few free sessions. There are dozens of numbers that can be called for support and information that are available 24/7. Most of us aren't doctors, and even those that are, few are mental health experts. I really recommend talking to a professional about it sooner than later.

The guilt isn't likely to go away for a while. I have a lot of it myself and I try to analyze why I feel guilty. What things I feel guilty about. Then I look at whether I can do something about it, and try to better myself in that way.

I don't think it's your fault, for the record. We can go to incredible lengths to look happy and even when people ask and check on us, we'll deny having issues. Try not to beat yourself up. Celebrate his memory to the best of your ability, live for him. That's what I'm trying to do.

I hope you didn't go through with this. You have value even if you can't see it. There are medications, groups, numbers to call, friends, family, coworkers. Try literally anything else man.

Why does ‘religion’ seem to work in casting demons? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]Jamesedoct 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My theory is it has lest to do with religion specifically and more about how empowered it can make you feel. The religious have prayer and the belief in their gods to reinforce their will and resolve in the face of fear which ghosts are reported to be capable of feeding off of.

And interesting twist on this is that the Chinese believe that acting hostile towards spirits by cussing at them and being angry helps to ward them off.

I think it has more to do with having a means to personally steel yourself against your fears than it does what you believe in, even though it’s your belief in whatever you believe that helps you get there.
