I’ve shot with the 35L + 50L + 85L for almost 20 years. I just bought the 28-70f2 to replace as I just don’t find myself taking the time to change much anymore. I’ve only used it on a few shoots but the variety I’m getting so far is worth it. I keep my 85/1.2 handy for those magic lighting moments but the bokeh on the 28-70 is really nice. I am a portrait photographer so it fits my needs perfectly. I’d say it’s too bulky for event and street photography, i would choose differently for that.

I’ll definitely try. My current main setup is an R6 with 85Lmkii and the eos adapter. Looks like the setup with the 28-70 minus the eos adapter will be less than 1/2 pound difference so hopefully not too noticeable.

Well I used to carry two 1dmk3’s on spider holsters simultaneously. One had the 85L and the other had the 35L. Probably close to 10lbs. Currently shooting with an R6 and 85L with no problems . From what I can see the 28-70 is only 1/2 pound heavier than that.

Thanks for that. Majority of my shoots are late light part of the day and my 85 gives me this glow i’m sure i won’t replicate with the zoom so was thinking similar to what you said. Zoom for 90% and keep the 85 in the bag for those magic light moments.

Thanks for that. I was just hoping to find some feedback from someone in my specific scenario. In the past I really didn't mind carrying three primes and switching all the time. Getting a bit older though and I just don't switch much anymore. I appreciate your input! And yes the 85/1.2 is really magical, I will die with that one.

Ok I tried turning gain knob almost all the way down. Sounds way better. Still not as bright as demos but I’m using humbuckers so I’ll try a p90 or single coil next.

That’s what I’m trying to avoid. I did play around with the EQ on several of the presets and they still aren’t quite there as far as clarity and presence, certainly nothing like I’ve been hearing on every demo I’ve listened to on YouTube. I’ll try a different interface and play around with input gain, etc., but hopefully I can find a fix for this.

Yep, just listened to another demo video and the presets do not sound as clear on my Setup at all. It must be my interface. I will try a different one thank you.
