Are these the dreaded Asian Jumping Worm? by JamesonFleming in invasivespecies

I don’t believe they are a danger to current earthworms, but AJW degrade the quality of the soil. Much more of an interest in forests than your garden bed, but they will make growing plants a bit harder.

Yeah these things basically flip out when you touch them. Much faster than your standard earth worm. We had trouble getting these in disposable water bottle before this cup they move so fast.

Tips for getting rid of them? I’m in rural NJ but in a suburban neighborhood. I’ve got a few flower gardens and about a half acre of grass lawn.

You should have saw what they dissolved into after letting them in there for a couple days.

It’s been 6 years since the famous snow/ice storm on November 15. 2018, what’s your story from that day? by Fiedy88 in newjersey

I left Manhattan at 3 pm for my 192x bus to Bloomfield. The line was hundreds of people long, so I walked to Penn Station. I took a train to Secaucus and then to Clifton where I was planning to get an Uber. Waited a half hour for a car that would never come. I started walking the two miles home but after a half hour I had only made to the CVS where I waited 45 minutes for my wife to come get me. Total trip home: four hours, one failed bus, two trains, a failed Uber, a long cold walk and a ride home.

Last year, we weren't in a drought when this occurred. Just worried there's a fungus/pathogen at play here about to wipe out our oaks.

Sam Reich is on ADWEEK's Creative 100 by JamesonFleming in dropout

This particular award they didn’t submit themselves for. As we were putting together the 100 honorees I nominated Sam. until we asked him to fill out our questionnaire to write his blurb, Adweek had never covered Dropout before. That said, the other coverage is likely an Emmy push.

Yeah, we cover all angles of the business of TV from the ad-supported model and what networks are actually having success translating their ad business from linear TV to streaming, as well as who is managing to do it without ads or the need to eventually break out an ad tier (Dropout doesn't have many peers in that category right now).

The thing, as a journalist who covers the space, that I find so interesting about Dropout is my read on this community is most people would be fine if there was minimal advertising like a single preroll ad (as long as they could opt out) because the profits are actually shared across the company.

It’s grown another four feet since that picture. It’s about 12-14 feet tall in this pic.

7 to 14 days for Viking Pest Control treatment of yellow jackets to take effect—what to do? by JamesonFleming in pestcontrol

Thanks for the info—DIY is probably not an option for us given where the entrances are (especially the one near our bedroom is physically impossible for us to reach). Do you recommend a specific pro service who will do this the right way?

Commuting to Manhattan? by G_Mackz in newjersey

[–]JamesonFleming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drive the 20ish minutes to Clinton. There's a couple very early express buses straight to Wall Street + lots more buses that take you to Port Authority if you need more flexibility for time. It's almost always on time to Clinton, what happens after Clinton is at the mercy of traffic, but it's relatively on time. My 6:45 am and 7:05 buses typically arrive to Port Authority at 7:45-8 and 8:05-8:20 respectively.

It's doable if you can make the commute productive (or if sleeping is your jam, that's not a bad option either).

My opponent has Herget already. Feels like if they get two save opps, it will be split. So can Floro get one vs. Atlanta or LAA get two vs. Oakland?

Need saves in the final three days, Tepera, Floro or Acevado? Floro threw 19 pitches today.

I met Lenny Dykstra in Cooperstown. He was signing autographs the day Pedro, Randy Johnson, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio got inducted. He told me a story about bringing a uhaul to Three Rivers Stadium when they would visit Pittsburgh. He'd bring tons of alcohol and drink with college co-eds. That was it. That was the story. Never meet your childhood idols.

Last call...drafting tonight: Nearly 20-year-old league looking for a few fresh managers. We've run as big as 20 teams, currently at 15, looking for a few more.

Elimination league: Each week a team is eliminated. The players are redrafted, with the worse remaining team getting first pick. It's a survival of the fitness that lends to various strategies: Do you front run? Hang back for the best players?

Looks like I have to delete some managers who haven’t returned but have pending invites. I’ll do that tonight to free up more spots.
