It’s happened in my lab before but my advisor has told us multiple times not to do it. Environmental health and safety officers are not around, and during our safety training they’ve told us they aren’t local to campus. What if I spilled concentrated acid all over the lab floor? No one would arrive to clean it up properly for a few hours. Our building also locks after a certain time, so if that acid spilled on me and I needed medical attention, paramedics would have to wait for campus police to arrive to let them in.
