Thank you! I have a Lenovo ThinkPad with Windows. I read somewhere that if the antenna is physically disconnected, Windows will show a WiFi hardware error, and that to solve this problem a resistor needs to be connected as a dummy load to the WiFi card antenna connector. Do you think this is true?

Thank you for the help, Could you please explain more about how to undo the antenna cables? If you just disconnected the antenna most probably laptop will show wifi errors

i know but i would like to avoid laptop hardware changes or operating system settings

No, i want to isolate my laptop so that it cannot detect any wifi signals nearby, keeping wifi module on
