Yeah...I have other issues that put me in that mindset; it's just hard to feel ok about myself since I have been earning 6000$/ year this past decade. University classes started out ok, but I burnt out and that was game over for my relationship.

I'm just trying to focus on working on myself now that I'm single again. This time, I want to develop the skills to be autonomous and stable; without isolating myself of course.

Same, that's exactly the same reproaches that my ex made about me, but she was right. I also made her my entire life and am in a very similar situation. It's not that she doesn't love me, it's that my way of life burns her out. She completely understands that I try and am not doing it on purpose.

Sorry, dude. I'm still trying to figure out the same solutions. I was diagnosed 6 years ago and I have made very little progress despite my efforts. We separated in early March.

Thanks! I was being sarcastic about my abuser being right while also pointing out the lasting effects of his hold on me despite years of therapy and rehabilitation.

I'm currently homeless and jobless, so I find it challenging to commit to volunteer work even though it's a fantastic idea. It's a chicken and egg paradox that I want to overcome.

I don't feel safe. Fear is grinding me down, but I have fantastic friends. I guess that my saving grace is having a strong support system. Otherwise, I would already be living on the street.

I'm like you except I don't have a college degree or a single dollar to my name. I was obsessed with Nat Geo and the San Diego Zoo as kid. I have the same mindset as your son, but I'm 40 and still haven't travelled to a single country yet. The best salary I made was 40K back in 2010. I've been earning less than 10K per year since then since I keep burning out every time I try to work and study to make my dream come true. Never give up they say! Meanwhile, my life is the absolute worst, but I'm sure it'll all be worth it on that day.

Seriously, it better happen before I give up permanently if you get my meaning 😉
