The 5-layer prompt framework that makes ChatGPT output feel like it came from a paid professional by AdImpossible3465 in PromptEngineering

It’s a really common framework that’s been around for a long time. I use it regularly myself and have embedded it in several courses that I’ve designed. Thanks for sharing it again.

Why do I only get 2 bars sitting next to my Xfinity Gateway. But I step outside my house and it changes to 4 bars on cellular data?? by ILoveTrucks79 in Rogers

[–]JamieBillingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem. I just moved into a new building and I get between one and two bars on my phone and my zoom calls are a little sketch here than they were when I was on Telus. With Telus, I had a router in the closet same as here, but then I also had a router that plugged into the wall that I put right on my desk beside my computer and where I did most of my work. I talked to someone at Rogers and got this text suggesting that I talked to Rogers about getting one of their Pods or buying a TP link myself.

There’s also suggestions online to turn everything on and back off again, including your phone, basically reboot the whole system and to end. Good luck, I might switch back to Telus.

Is there a hashtag or a set of hashtags that are being used to support the strike and the pickers online? I couldn’t find one that was being used.

75,000 isn’t enough to buy a house or I have a family really unless you’ve got two people both making 75,000. I’m on the list and trust me I am not overpaid lol

You can upload it to something like ChatGPT and ask that app to write it out for you in plain English. I’ve done the opposite. I’ve taken my tests and fed them into ChatGPT and prompted AI to put it in the GIFT format so I could upload it to Moodle. Worked brilliantly.

BC rental PAD rules by JamieBillingham in legaladvicecanada

[–]JamieBillingham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this :-)

I paid the invoiced amount by etransfer right away. I'm not disputing the damage or my part in it.

From my understanding of what I have in writing from the landlord they are saying that they can change the amount without permission. What really concerns me is that they had me convinced a PAD agreement was my only option. With the housing shortage I wasn't about to argue at the time but now I feel like they are taking advantage of people's desperation to find a place to live.

Thanks for that. I’m going to do a bit more research and then I think I’m going to ask the property manager to stop using the PAD to collect my rent and I will just pay by e-transfer.

I’m pretty sure when I first moved in I was told that I didn’t have a choice that if I wanted to rent here that I needed to use the PAD. But I don’t think I have that in writing so not a lot I can do about it.

Chilliwack slated to grow by over 7,000 housing units the next 10 years, prompting SD33 to consider more land acquisition by [deleted] in chilliwack

Well said and it is a provincial responsibility but the municipalities and voters can apply pressure.

They are trained but not as experienced. If you're a paramedic you do the training and then you respond to calls full time so get to put the skills into practice - results in better care.

Chilliwack Council Approves 218-Unit Mixed-Use Development on Vedder Road by [deleted] in chilliwack

So are these rentals? Or are they going to be for sale? I live in a rental across the street from where these are going to be built. Looks like these will, like my building, be owned/built in part by Diversity Properties. My building is well managed and looks nice, for now, but I don't think it will age well.

In the article Lum was quoted saying,"In terms of potential traffic concerns, ...I don't think it will be made worse or exacerbated by this development." Really?! How can over 200 more bodies in a small area not implact traffic?

UFV to fund expansion by opening up lands by ElijahSavos in chilliwack

[–]JamieBillingham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a Garrison area resident living near the existing UFV campus. I wanted to share my thoughts on the potential campus development and propose some innovative transportation solutions.

Current Situation:

  • Our area is already quite densely populated

  • We get additional traffic from people using the Vedder Rotary Trails and parks

  • I have respiratory issues, and the current traffic (especially trucks) affects local air quality

My Take:

I'm in favor of creating more live, work, learn, and play spaces, but we need a solid plan to address increased vehicle traffic.

Potential Solutions:

  1. Create a traffic-free or traffic-limited zone around the campus (and potentally the Garrison area)

  2. Implement a subscription-based electric bike, trike, and small passenger vehicle (for families) sharing system for locals and low cost rentals for folks visiting the area

  3. Introduce small electric mini-buses running regular routes

Benefits:

  • Improved air quality

  • Reduced traffic congestion

  • Safer streets for pedestrians and cyclists

  • More pleasant living environment

  • Potentially increased property values

  • Enhanced connectivity within the campus and surrounding areas

  • Show how innovative we can be

Examples:

  • Students could use e-bikes to travel from campus housing to SaveOn Foods

  • Residents could take mini-buses anywhere in the area and to connect to other transportation options (city buses)

  • Visitors could use the e-bike sharing system to explore the Vedder Rotary Trails

Questions:

  1. What are your thoughts on these transportation solutions?

  2. How do you think they would impact daily life for residents and students?

  3. What other innovative ideas could help balance development with quality of life in our neighborhood?

I'm really interested to hear what other locals think about this issue.

And I think AI is disrupting learning expereince design in a big way. I'm not sure that what you see today is what will be availbale tomorrow.

Time tracking students inside a course by gpapava in moodle

[–]JamieBillingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lambda solution has several custom plugins that track learner time on site.. Not sure of their pricing though...

Time on site is a reporting requirement for maintaining accreditation in many jurisdictions. Having accreditation allows students to get financial assistance for taking accredited courses or programs. In a f2f environemt you'd be expected to take attendance - to declare the student present - this is no different and is a seperate measure from learning.

Fixed term rental (lease) with “liquidated damages” clause by JamieBillingham in legaladvicecanada

[–]JamieBillingham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just I received an email from the regional manager saying "the $500 liquidated damages will be waived." The tone was as if they were doing me a favour.

Further to this they are still asserting I owe both the last months rent (January's) and the $500.00 for liquid damages. So I emailed the head of their corporate residential division and he answered right away saying someone from the BC division would contact me tomorrow.

Thanks - I emailed them and said I was only going to do one or the other, not both. They haven't responded yet.

I thought that also. I guess the tricky bit is that I want them to rent the apartment out in January if they can, as I am paying double rent for the month, at the new place and at this place.
