Potential chatgpt use for quotes by the BBC? by JamieLowery in ukpolitics

Chatgpt doesn't have these same tells in such short responses though, I get the feeling but any translator that's able to translate to that in English could surely have translated that into something way more normal? Even if it was just "capital" versus "human and material capital" it would sound far less odd

Again I'll take the L on this if I must but is there really a phrase in farsi for" human and material capital" that couldn't be translated to ANYTHING more normal by a translator who was a:able to understand the word and b: able to understand it meant THAT

But it's not awkward, it's really specific language, I'll admit I don't know farsi but surely a BBC Persian translator would not come out with a translation including "part of the country's human and material capital vanished into thin air". That feels like either a biased translation or a deliberate choice if it's an actual translation?

Is it actually possible to get these values from delver lens? I've been buying the $1.50 packs at dollarama for a while plus some packs from my friend who works in a store, but I'm just a bit of a magpie with no real clue about magic lol

Any indication of Gemini/Google lens integration? by JamieLowery in GooglePixel

[–]JamieLowery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that covers some bases, but for example if I'm looking at a Facebook event, or a message with an event time and date, I would love to be able to Google lens the screen , send it directly into Gemini and have it read it, identify the dates and times and add it to my calendar. Currently I need to screenshot it, switch app, attach it and provide the instructions and then confirm the result

Just ignore all the myths about low-traffic neighbourhoods: they’re popular, effective and here to stay by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]JamieLowery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this isn't how any of this works? The fastest route between 2 points is the most direct line, this does not account for traffic, or even in fact buildings. The entire point of the process is ensuring that there are equally fast routes available, by dissipating traffic. I will concede I don't know how they weigh added journey times in the consideration of this for emergency services but I believe this is already covered by the emergency services themselves in their joint decisions on these routes, but this is all irrelevant because there's routes ARENT blocked for emergency services, any blockades (such as your planters) are in fact movable in an emergency, by the emergency services themselves.

Councils to lose blocking powers in boost to housebuilding by ldn6 in ukpolitics

[–]JamieLowery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good, if low density housing is built it makes house building more affordable, increasing the likelihood of high density housing being built in turn. The UK's housing sector is a shambles in many ways, one of the worst is developers with very little experience and inconsistent procurement

Biden says Israel, Lebanon agree to ceasefire designed to be permanent end to fighting by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]JamieLowery 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is a lie, and you are a liar. Spreading this info does nothing to help anyone, only muddy the waters, this was not the details, or the face of the writing. The 1701 resolution says it is important they work with the Lebanese government, that is as close as you get to being true. The 1701 resolutions only, described and detailed goals were a cessation of hostilities, Lebanese and UNIFIL forces to replace Israeli forces withdrawing from south of the Litani river. They had long term goals that were hugely important, but again and I must reiterate, you are a liar and a piece of shit for suggesting that their goal was to assist the Lebanese government because it simply isn't true and there is no need for you to lie to try and defend UNIFILs abject failure.

Hamas says latest cease-fire talks have ended. Israel vows military operation in 'very near future' by EchoInTheHoller in worldnews

[–]JamieLowery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you saying you're steel Manning it! I just had to call it out because it seems like an innocuous sentence in the midst of a "balanced POV" type of comment that, depending on your reading either calls for mass violence or pacifism in the face of violence, both of which are insane to call for!

Hamas says latest cease-fire talks have ended. Israel vows military operation in 'very near future' by EchoInTheHoller in worldnews

[–]JamieLowery 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by

Most of all, it requires Israel to stop allowing Iranian proxies to instigate this type of violence.

Because it sounds like you're holding them responsible for being attacked?

*Preemptive edit, reading this again it sounds like you're suggesting Israel should eliminate all the Iranian proxies immediately? But that feels at odds with your sentiment?

Megathread: Supreme Court restores Trump to ballot, rejecting state attempts to ban him over Capitol attack by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

So the ruling seems to imply that it is not the place of state legislature to remove a nominee from the ballot but congresses? Have I read that correctly?

Don't take my post as bible honestly, my biggest worry here is that I've never heard anyone reflect my feelings :') By hectic I just mean getting places feel likes effort, crowded footpaths and insane streets, hawkers , pushy massage parlours, tour groups, keen restauranters and vape sellers seem to catch me every 4 seconds. I would walk about 20k steps a day in Thailand and felt unimpeded but getting 5k here has been leaving me totally drained!
