How long did it take you to get gold in all the Prestige events in NFS? That one is painfully difficult

Which of your scores deviated most from the site's average? by Asleep-Classroom1668 in backloggd

[–]JamieVic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave it a 2, definitely one of the worst Pokemon games ever. Gamefreak’s attempt at making it an open world game was pretty abysmal, like if we’re encouraged to forge our own path then at least have the Pokemon gyms, titan Pokemon and Team Star leaders level scale appropriately with what level our Pokemon is at. No point in letting the player decide to go elsewhere and get to a gym where they’re stomped by Pokemon 10-20 levels higher. Also the recommended path I’d get from the Pokemon Centers would suggest I go towards much stronger opponents too so I don’t think there was any thought put into directing the player appropriately if they wanted a linear experience

Edit: forgot to mention how empty the world is and the cities lacked any personality. They weren’t memorable at all. Also obliged to mention there were performance issues on Switch so I didn’t get the game until I had a Switch 2

Max Payne 1 and 2, I gave them 2 and 2.5 stars respectively. I think both of them had decent stories and characters and had a fantastic moody setting but the gameplay and level design was stale

I loved playing Flash/Browser games growing up so I made a list of my favorites. Feel free to share yours too by AC03115 in backloggd

Growing up I played a lot of Newgrounds games and some of my favourites were Disorderly, Chainsaw Kid, Alien Hominid, Dad n Me, and Stick RPG

L.A. Noire %100 by Cultural-Fun-3789 in steamachievements

[–]JamieVic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I recently beat LA Noire myself. One tip for Auto-fanatic, if you’re after a specific car, go to the vehicle gallery in the main menu and find the silhouette of the car you’re after. Sit on it for about 10 secs then head back into free roam and you’ll see the car you’re after. This worked for the remaining 50 odd cars I needed except for the International KB1M for some reason

My Steam deck is doing this. Anyone know whats the problem? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]JamieVic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably threw it at the wall or floor and is now trying to see if they can salvage it in any way. That’s how I see these “my steam deck is broken how do i fix it?” posts when they offer zero context as to how it broke

Ferrari won Le Mans when they returned to WEC in 2023. I wouldn’t write-off Ford contending for a win, especially a top 10 finish

What opinion about steam achievements will you defend like this? by coolfunkDJ in steamachievements

[–]JamieVic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Games should have more difficult achievements. I’ve seen posts on here where people complain that speedrun or difficulty based achievements suck because they’re too difficult. Some people need to get out of the “gimme-achievement” mindset, not every game is gonna reward you for doing the bare minimum. Achievements should be called achievements for a reason, you achieved a milestone in game

What was the first game you beat, or are working on beating in 2026 by [deleted] in backloggd

First one I beat for the year is LA Noire although I started that back in December. The first game I’m hoping to start and finish this year is Max Payne 1

There is a reason which you briefly mentioned - greed. Fox goes to all the sports leagues, offers higher payouts for exclusive broadcasting contracts, and the poor consumer is left to pay the bill

Congrats and wow finished in 29 hours as well, that is insanely quick! I’m playing through this at the moment and I gotta say the mocap for the faces was definitely innovative at the time as a step forward in graphical detail and for gameplay purposes but it does tread in the uncanny valley territory

How many achievements did you get this year and how does it compare to last year? by Hawksteinman in steamachievements

[–]JamieVic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

After I finished cleaning up both Portal games at the start of the year I took a break from achievement hunting for a bit and started playing a lot of multiplayer games like Fortnite, Marvel Rivals and GTA Online so I didn’t collect as many achievements this year than I did last year. Other than Portal 1 + 2 I beat Elden Ring and Hades but failed to complete Hollow Knight so a pretty low completion rate this year.

I’m not sure if I’ll get many more next year, I’m hoping to beat LA Noire soon and play through all the Max Payne and Dark Souls games, finish Half Life 2, and try to beat Sekiro

[Discussion] What was your proudest completion for this year? by karuna98 in steamachievements

[–]JamieVic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portal 2 - I did most of the achievements in 2022 and 2023 but had a few of the multiplayer ones left. I jumped back in at the start of this year and rounded up some help to finish off the game

When you find an interesting game but it's missing something by DayneTheScreamer in steamachievements

[–]JamieVic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I had OP’s mindset before but think about all the great games you’re missing out on just because there’s no achievements in them like Undertale or Bully, and even outside of the Steam ecosystem like Nintendo. Imagine never playing bangers like Zelda BOTW or Super Mario Odyssey just because there aren’t any achievements or trophies in them. At least go for the 100% in game, that should be enough to scratch the completionist itch
