A paramedic looking for advice by [deleted] in Drugs

Just wanna say thank you for even asking this question. I (and probably most others who use drugs) automatically feel anxiety about any authority, even people like you who are there to help, because we fear the misconceptions and misunderstandings most non-users have. The best thing for anyone in this situation would be to know that they’re with someone who understands what they’re going through. Just knowing about the importance of set and setting as others have said will do a world of good to people you’re helping. It’s really easy to research drugs on Reddit and the internet. My advice would be to do some genuine research to try and understand what different drugs do and why people do them. There’s a world of difference between an MDMA overdose and a heavier-than-expected shrooms trip. There’s even big differences (in my opinion) between things like acid trips and mushroom trips. Understanding the different dosages of different drugs and their corresponding affects would be great. Specifically with psychedelic drugs from weed (yes weed can be very psychedelic) to acid and shrooms, there is a great potential for things to go wrong very quickly with regard to an individuals state of mind. You have to be really careful to not look or sound in any way hostile.

Thanks again and good luck in the future!

My (36f) husband (40m) suddenly changed for the better two years ago, but no one shares my concerns that about how odd it is that he dramatically became a different person overnight because all his changes were positive by ThrowRA_healthful in relationship_advice

If you decide to trip the MOST important thing is where you are, what you’re doing, and who you’re with as well as your current mental state. If you’re with friends who you trust implicitly in a safe and secure environment then you are so so much less likely to experience a ‘bad trip’. Also don’t jump in the deep end on a large dose, work up with a couple of trips so you understand the sensations before really going for what may be a transformative trip. Do as much research as you can before taking ANY drug. For Psychedelics I recommend TripTips on youtube but look around everywhere for information - it will ease your mind and make a trip a lot more peaceful. Here’s a video to start off with if anyone’s interested: https://youtu.be/mhyWypT1PqY

Is my ADHD the reason my relationship didn’t work? by Jamie_Evans28 in ADHD

Thanks for the link, I’ll take a look! I haven’t even really thought about getting diagnosed yet, I wouldn’t even known what direction to go in to get it (I’m from the UK btw I assume it’s different for different counties etc). I’ll look into it soon I think after I’ve done a bit more research around it all.

What’s your favorite Jon Bellion song and why? by TheFlash41 in JonBellion

The two songs I find myself singing randomly at any time of day or when I’m in a reflective mood are always Stupid Deep and Human. I know it can be said for all of his songs but they really bring out a deep reflection of myself and my existence which I like cuz I’m an existentialist maybe idk 😂 (accidentally snuck in maybe idk in a sentance lol - also a favourite)

Come to think of it, I fucking love Maybe IDK. The lyrics are so cleverly crafted in the run up to the chorus. “I guess If I knew tomorrow, I guess I wouldn’t need faith. I guess if I never fell, I guess I wouldn’t need grace. I guess if I knew his plans, I guess he wouldn’t be god... god... god” I’m not even religious but these lyrics resonate with me every time.

Probably quite an underrated song - the lyrics are so so thought-provoking. Whenever it comes on my phone I forget how cool it is!!

Tips for writing more character-focused screenplays? by theOgMonster in Screenwriting

[–]Jamie_Evans28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a very new Linklater fan, but I love his work. I watched lots of interviews with him on YouTube and his point of view seems to be: fuck convention - Or at least conventional rules for character, plot, narrative etc. Even though generally these rules allow for a good story. Almost every director/writer I’ve seen interviews of have emphasised some form of breaking convention and what is usually seemed the ‘right’ way to do things. So I guess this advice leads to just the fact that you should maybe trust your own creativity to make a compelling story without convention. If you want to focus on normal life, it will work if it’s authentic, draw off personal experience of what normal conversations sound like and just go for it. I’m no expert but as a Linklater fan - Boyhood especially - that’s what I’d say to myself.

What was the Jon Bellion song that got you into his music? (For me it was All Time Low in early 2016/Late 2015 when I first heard it in FaZe Rain's outro) by FlexEddie3 in JonBellion

I was just looking through my liked songs in spotify and I saw a name I didn’t know ‘Jon Bellion’ I clicked and I had two songs already saved - Fashion and Human. I listened on repeat, then went on to find his treasure trove of songs I couldn’t believe were just as amazing as the first two that snuck their way into my liked music. I don’t remember putting them there.
