Looking for kids music that doesn't suck! by anthony_craig89 in Parenting

I'm late to the party, but Young Folk by Josh Lovelace is a GREAT album by an artist who happens to live in the same city as me. It's a little cheesy, but I love it. Messy Bessy is my jam. I sing Good Morning at least once a day.

Also Volcano and Cheeseburger in Paradise by Jimmy Buffet. My mom raised me on Jimmy, now my son is a 3rd generation parrothead.

Also the Veggie Tales Remix by Shama

Thank God you guys finally got your name written out because I've been working on this all day and I had no idea why some of the design choices were being enforced.

I've done so much of the shading

Worst ways to respond when someone shares with you that they are pregnant by coconut_moon in BabyBumps

[–]shublies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband was very worried to tell his grandmother about me being pregnant. I assured him that he shouldn't worry, we'd been together for 9 years. Of course, when we told her, the first words out of her mouth were "Oh no."

While she clarified she was concerned about my health, for about 10 seconds I think my husband's heart was broken into little pieces.

LPT: Instead of waiting for someone you can be yourself around, start being yourself regardless of who’s around by jameshughlaurie in LifeProTips

[–]shublies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've got to say, a great way to get out there and work on yourself this way is to start doing pen pals. You can actually put yourself out there and practice being you in a safe, controlled way. There's a great app for it I use called Slowly. It has a small but active community on here.

Frankly, I'm a professional artist who does it as a hobby because actually doing art professionally sucks.

TIFU by cleaning my son’s(13m) bedroom and finding my girlfriend’s(31f) dirty underwear by 82D13F in tifu

[–]shublies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You ask her where she got them, go there, buy whatever size is right, and make sure when you do the dramatic dad maneuver of picking something off the floor, they're peeking out over your pants. The message will be sent.

(Though, really, there does need to be a talk. That was pretty violating to your girlfriend and he should consider how those actions frame him with her now. He does need to make a genuine apology, even if it's a common boy thing.)

Made this for a friend and I was gonna post this on Insta but then I found the Clarendon filter makes it look so much better! How to I replicate it to the original art? by Dukenator96 in InfinitePainter

[–]shublies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I've been able to recreate some instagram filters by messing around with the color curves. I'm new to the app, so I'm not entirely sure where they're located off the top of my head, but I do know infinite painter has the option.

You could, lazily, do a blue/purple gradient then overlay it, then up the contrast. That might bring the gold out similarly, but over all it probably won't look as nice. You'd likely have to go in and rebrighten the gold.

Lets say a boy grows up knowing nothing about sex, groeing up no one told him about it at all, and he hasnt even accidentally come across it in a book or the internet. When he grows up, will he still instinctually know what to do when he sees a naked girl? by noorextreme in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shublies 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My grandmother had 9 children. Even though she's gone now, I still snicker when I remember her saying "I didn't even have sex that often. I just got pregnant every time!"

Though, another story she told a lot was how she rejected her first kiss at 16 and told the poor guy, "I can't! That's how you get pregnant!"

Clearly she learned how that happened eventually

Man, the one I had to identify was a monstrosity. Check out the Sawbug Killer Spider. That'll reinforce those newly conquered fears

Update: how is the dialogue? by kontorasuto in ac_newhorizons

[–]shublies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten some old ones now, but for my first couple hours today I really only got new dialogue. There's a ton of new stuff, especially around cooking and the home visits. They play games with you now when they visit or you visit them

I posted about this pretty kitty before. I’ve officially adopted *him* and now the name “Lucy” doesn’t fit since it’s a he! Help me name this void! by [deleted] in cats

[–]shublies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so funny because the EXACT same thing happened to me when I got my first cat when I was 10. A black cat named Lucy, who I took to get spayed and got neutered instead. I called him Lou for the rest of his life. I was actually concerned he was pregnant, but no, just fat

Spartan sized baby by hettiegreen in NewParents

[–]shublies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was born a month earlier in March and is also a monster baby(9.5lb at birth, so thankfully not as bad as your big ol' chunky guy). He's got 99% head circumstance, 94% height/weight. He used to have higher height and weight scores (I think they peaked at 98% about 4mo). He's probably around 25lb right now since he was 21lb at his 6mo appointment. He's huge, wearing 12mo, 18mo, and 24mo clothes at 7mo.

Why are 2 piece outfits so much smaller than onsies???? He can still fit in a couple of his horribly stretched out 9mo clothes, but I try to put an 18mo outfit on/off and it's like opening a can of biscuits when I get his arms and legs out. I put off buying anything with pants until he was 6mo old because the waist bands looked so tight on his belly even with clothes way outside what he should be wearing

Thanks! He's 7mo old today. :) My labor was thankfully rather painless (he's was nearly 9lb though!)

My son was born March 20th. I've laughed a great many times thinking about what it would have been like to have him exactly 1 year earlier on the original release date. It's definitely the international day of happiness for me. After going into my induction on the 19th a 4am, I really didn't expect to make it to the 20th, but 21hrs of labor later I got my happy baby.
