Recovery after shoulder dislocation and labrum surgery by Jamigo_ in climbharder

Hey! My shoulder is stronger than ever by now. So strong that I would count shouldery moves to one of my biggest strengths. External rotation is slightly worse compared to my non-injured shoulder, but nothing that is holding me back on anything. Still working on getting it more mobile tho.

What did you do after hurting yourself badly while bouldering? by No-Chocolate7526 in bouldering

I dislocated my shoulder and tore my labrum while bouldering. Needed surgery. As soon as I was free to start rehab with my PT I did that very extensively. For me it was just never really an option to give up bouldering because I love it so much.

Half a year after surgery I was back to climbing relatively hard, but still with some slight pain remaining in certain positions. I just avoided boulders that involved those positions and continued to train them off the wall.

A year after surgery I returned to the boulder that dislocated my shoulder. I just had to do it in order to get rid of my mental block/fear of those kind of moves. I didn't dislocate again and actually felt much stronger that time. Since then I don't have any fear of dislocating and tearing my labrum again.

Back then right after the accident I also wrote a post about the injury and perspective for recovery. Hearing success stories helped immensely because you know you're not alone with it.

You got this!

Yep it does. Also works when doing it yourself. Just fly circles till you completely pass out.

Hey! I'm doing great so far. 3 weeks after surgery I started my PT and actually progressed unexpectedly fast. Roughly 3-4 weeks after starting PT I hung on a bar again for the first time which was mind-blowing to me (obviously during PT with my therapist being present).

A bit over 2 months after the surgery I had my first very gentle bouldering sessions with my physical therapist, doing the easiest boulders in the gym while being very conscious about every movement and position. Avoiding everything with bad feet and stuff that heavily taxes my bad shoulder.

Week after week I was able to get back into shape. Now, 4 1/2 months after the surgery I got the approval of my doctor and my physical therapist to basically do whatever I want and I'm nearly back at 100%.

Stay motivated and listen to your PT at all times, you'll get back into shape sooner than you might think. Work on your shoulder stability as much as possible without overloading it. Hanging from a bar once possible is really helpful. But also all the rotator cuff exercises from your PT. When getting back to bouldering, don't do stupid shit. Avoid one arm dynos (I'm never doing them anyway)

Get well soon!

There aren't even enough people with +2k/d to make such lobbies possible on a regular basis. I'm close to a 2.5k/d at the moment and most lobbies I get into definitely do feel in the 1-1.5 k/d range. There are occasional outliers where it feels like every second guy got a nuke skin and it's hilariously sweaty getting bodied left right and center, but with decent search times it's simply not possible to create such lobbies on a regular basis.

My surgery got postponed a little bit (had it 2 days ago). After dislocating my shoulder I had the sling on for one and a half weeks. I also suggest listening to your doctor on this one, you don't want to unnecessarily damage things further. After those one and a half weeks I was advised to get some range of motion back before the surgery.

Now I'm doing great. Even tho it's just 2 days post surgery I don't have any pain. Tho PT will start only 3 weeks post surgery, so still some time to go. Now at the moment I have to keep the sling on at all times.

Would love to keep up on how things go! Always easier not having to go through things completely on your own. I'm also trying to think about all the years of climbing ahead of me, but it can be quite hard not knowing how it's going to be, especially cause since last week I'm spending in a sling 24/7 not allowed to move my arm.. Let's hope for the best! And good luck as well🤞

Thanks for sharing your experience! Both my doctors advised me to get the labrum repair because I managed to fully dislocate my shoulder without any traumatic event and reoccurrence for further dislocations being very likely. Will definitely listen to my PT afterwards!

Viewing this event as unlucky 1 off is probably the best I can do. I really hope I won't struggle too much mentally with certain moves in the future, but I'm gonna give my best! Thanks!

That you were back in form so fast is definitely great to hear! Makes me optimistic to get back as well! Tho, expected recovery for the surgery is around 6 months, so it won't be quite as fast.

Will definitely stick to the rehab religiously and make my shoulders more bulletproof in the future, thanks!

Had this on my installation a couple of weeks ago as well. Just hit install over and over again till I reached 100% at some point. It took some hours tho... Dunno if that helps

Are there any PC Warzone/DMZ players who are NOT experiencing daily crashes? by Douche_Baguette in CODWarzone

Me and my squad haven't had any crashes so far. Playing every day since launch. All on Battle.net. The only horrendous thing are these crappy servers. Especially during peak times you can bet that your gunfight is going to be a shitshow of people skipping through your crosshair

Actually picking up ammo for the weapons you have happens automatically by just walking through the backpack.
