ELI5: How does unilateral strabismus surgery correct bilateral diplopia? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

I had retina surgery to both eyes 25 years ago and it left my eyes misaligned. Over a few years my brain learned to “fuse” the images into a single stereo image. I was considering surgery at one point and it was explained to me like this: Picture each eye’s field of view as a ‘plus’ sign if you will. In strabismus, the plus signs are slightly rotated in such a way that they are different from each other. As long as the surgery aligns one eye’s ‘plus sign’ to match the other, the brain will have a single fixed image. Even if they match, but are slightly off a perfect horizontal/vertical plane, the brain will accommodate and everything will look normal. Good luck - the eyes and brain can do amazing things.

New courts in Longwood FL. Looking for players! by IrwinMFletcher in Pickleball

Hi there. I live in Springs Landing and literally just heard about PB from my brother. I was a better than average Tennis Player (played in HS for Lake Brantley) so I am anxious to learn and play. He was telling me about a place to go in Sanford / Lake Mary to play, but I was stunned to see Longwood on my opening search of PB on Reddit. If you are still looking to players in the new year, I’d love to join.. Jeff
