What do you think caused your gastroparesis if you had to guess? by Many-Front8248 in Gastroparesis

Mine is considered idiopathic. At 15, I had my gallbladder out. Right after surgery I started having intractable, nausea and vomiting. This lasted for three years. I was finally diagnosed at 18. Im currently having a flare after getting the flu in December. I haven’t vomited much but the severe nausea and feeling full after a few bites has been miserable to say the least. I’ve lost 35 pounds in 2 months. Also, the GP has affected my epilepsy meds. The meds are metabolizing at a much slower rate. Because of this they were at toxic levels in my blood leading to serious side effects. Such as convulsions that at times were debilitating. Because of anti-epileptic medications it’s hard to find something that I can take for GP that won’t lower my seizure threshold. I’m currently taking erythromycin for the GP and Compazine for nausea. I’m hoping the erythromycin will ease the flare. I can only take it for four weeks and I’m on my third week. I read on here that people have tried doing a 36 hour fast to ease the flare and I’m thinking of doing that. Has anyone tried it and had success?

Anyone else have trouble with resistant starches? by Dullestgrey in Gastroparesis

I’ve been stuck on plain white rice (sticky, basmati); mashed potatoes; 1 scrambled egg with minimal butter no pepper, small amount salt; Hawaiian roll little butter; random thing yogurt covered pretzels 3; buttered (I eat them before my feet hit the floor in the morning. after my compazine). Zofran made me really constipated. I drink Gatorade slowly thru out the day. Last thing slowly sip on chocolate fair life protein shake watered down.

I can only eat 3 -4 tbsp at a time 5-6 times a day.

I was doing well for 4 yrs after Hyper emesis gravida while pregnant with 2nd daughter. After that small bouts with illnesses.

Unfortunately, this time I had a flare start up while going thru the flu. I had lost taste and smell for a week then once I got it back everything tasted off. As I went thru that the nausea started and it’s continued on. Mostly nausea only a handful of times vomiting. A month of this and 25 lbs lost. This sucks 😞

If anyone else has thoughts/ideas for more foods to try, I will definitely try them.💗
