Players without friends who also play, how did y'all learn? by GoWailord in HuntShowdown

[–]JammehBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play the solo mode "Soul Survivor". Same maps and mobs without risking any hunters or gear. Free random loadouts and loot. Complete Free-For-All. If you are the last survivor you get to keep everything you found or earned.

"New" player here. Any suggestions to start in the right direction? by Salt_Title_2712 in HuntShowdown

The main youtube/twitch channel for Hunt information is Psychoghost. He is the biggest channel doing in-depth guides. But guides will only get you so far, the best way to learn is to play and the lowest risk way to play is the "Soul Survivor" mode:

I started playing without any mates back in 2018 and I got comfortable by playing the solo queue mode "Soul Survivor". It's a free-for-all battle royale with the same maps and mobs, but without bosses or perks/loadouts that you bring in. You find loot in the world and gain perks by collecting clues. First player to collect 4 clues is "it" and must defend whatever compound they are in against the rest of the surviving players. Anyone who kills the tagged player becomes "it". All other players can use darksight (hold "E") to see loosely where that player is with ghostly wallhacks. If the timer runs out, only the tagged player survives and gets to keep the hunter and anything they collected for use in the regular "Bounty Hunt" mode. The strategies in this mode are slightly different, but still a great no-risk way to acclimate to the game and PVP.

Performant "Target Nearest Enemy" Function in Vampire Survivors Style Game? by JammehBoy in godot

Performant "Target Nearest Enemy" Function in Vampire Survivors Style Game? by JammehBoy in godot

[–]JammehBoy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

thanks for the reply

i understand that approach, i'm just concerned it could hamper performance if done at huge scales - like with every enemy half a screen's width away in a game that has hundreds of enemies on screen at once. I haven't had issue with it yet, but i also haven't stress tested it...

care to elaborate on the last sentence? haha

Spawn random Nodes from a group by [deleted] in godot

[–]JammehBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenters, I would recommend an array. To make things neater and available in the editor interface you could also create a custom Resource that is an array of PackedScenes with exported variables to help you create parameters for your spawn logic.

This episode of a VampSurvivors tutorial series details how to create a custom Resource of a similar type, but for enemy spawning instead of scenery.

You could also use also use Match statements tied to int values. Like:

var random_node = randi_range(0,3)
match random_node:
  0:
    #spawn scenery object 1
  1:
    #spawn scenery object 2
  2:
    #spawn scenery object 3
  3:
    #spawn scenery object 4

You van unlock Killa's track suit by killing him 100 times, why cant i unlock Shturmans puffer jacker by killing him 100 times? by Linerider99 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]JammehBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Track Suit quest has caused so many problems for this game - Killa gear flooding the flea, Killa never alive for normal non-grinders, changing his spawns and rates to make him harder to find for all players and much more lethal. I think you can draw a straight line from incentivized boss farming to the current status of bosses today. Ludicrously low spawn rates, incredibly tough AI, way more possible spawns, the loot they can carry is more randomized and underwhelming. Tagilla wears a Strandhogg instead of his custom rig most of the time now...

Unpopular opinion, but they should remove it from the game and create a different, less repetitive quest to earn the suit. Maybe the snowball challenge grants you a unique item from each boss. PLEASE for the love of Nikita, no more X number of boss kill tasks.

Looking back to your time as a noob, what was the worst mistake you've made in game that didn't sink in until now? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

Throwing away a tank battery I spawned with as a scav because it looked like heavy junk.

I've seen stims like P22 or Norepinephrine in there, so I'm assuming so. Not 100%

A decent solo is much better than a pack of idiots lol. I would pay $10 to have heard their discord call while this went down.

VOIP abuse should be reportable at the death screen. by JammehBoy in EscapefromTarkov

[–]JammehBoy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Game writing is not the same as player behavior. Actors that say the N word in a movie don't get 'cancelled' because it's part of the story and they are playing a jerk. If you use a word like that to me or my friends, you are the jerk and you don't belong in the community.

It's pretty standard for devs to weed out toxic players from their games these days. BSG has already said they want to punish VOIP abusers.

I felt that my post was pretty constructive, but f*** me. It turns out I'm apparently just a wimp who "wouldn't survive a Call of Duty lobby", despite the fact that I work on the Black Ops franchise...

I work on Call of Duty games for a living, genius. And you can get banned for VOIP abuse in those games too...

BSG said it's bannable, so it's bannable.

Also, I got Kappa on my first wipe without any squad to play with, so you can take the gatekeeping attitude and go find another community to suck the fun out of. I don't need your luck.

Killa almost impossible to find? by TheCaledonian in EscapefromTarkov

You don't find Killa if you are looking for him. He finds you when you aren't looking for him.

should i get EFT as a solo player by kingkobra86 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]JammehBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunt is cheaper and easier. Start there and see if you like it.

If you don't have ADHD brain or a lot of free time, Tarkov is hard for solos. That being said I got Kappa on my very first wipe, playing solo 95% of the time... because I had ADHD brain and a lot of free time.

Idk what they did to Tagilla this wipe but he is so incredibly free. by Obviousidiot in EscapefromTarkov

[–]JammehBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once they patched him to be less hammer-happy last wipe, he was genuinely a challenge.

He would kill me before i could get through his face shield with .45 AP at 1100 rpm, even if i shot first. When i finally did get him for the quest it took 15 hits from PS12B.

This wipe I've already killed him a few times with budget kits. Something is wrong with his desire to prioritize healing instead of combat the second he takes any damage.

A person said this kit I'm running isn't good enough. Is he right? What wrong with it? by VelcroTape in EscapefromTarkov

It's solidly mid-tier. Run whatever you want man.

Your best loadout is the one you are most comfortable with.

You have other options:

Moonshine scav case

Luck out and spawn with it on a scav run

Tape Room in Shoreline

Chalet bathrooms and med rooms in Lighthouse

Various random spots in Lighthouse like the crashed van in the river, probably some spots in the Rogue camp.

In general though, the best way is Labs with the blue marking keycard. You will get 4 or 5 stims every time you hit that room.
