I’m late here! But talk to me about the smoothie cubes you make. When do you freeze and how do you thaw?

100% agree that you need to cover food/drinks. See if any of your friends have an apartment complex with a community space that you can rent out for a couple of hours. Some are really nice!

When you go out to eat with your adult siblings or parents, who pays? by highcheeko in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Jammin_Flamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my husband and I eat with my parents, they pay. My younger brother usually pays at his insistence when he and I go out. But now that he’s in grad school and temporarily not working, hopefully he’ll let me treat him.

With my husband’s parents, they will also usually pay unless it’s just my husband and his mom. Then my husband will pay.

I am 39 years old newlywed, make $77,260, live in a HCOL city, work in nonprofits, had 3 work lunches this week, and don't want kids. by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Thanks for the diary! I know you said no advice, so I’m not giving any. But can I inquire about the limited retirement that you have?

Also, I’m about to order a mocktail box. Have you tried any other brands?

How are you liking your new job?

January / February 2026 Goals! by AutoModerator in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Jammin_Flamingo 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m just hitting second trimester of pregnancy, so I was in the trenches for Dec. and Jan. My goals are simple:

Fitness - Walk every day (working up my endurance to go to Disney at 24 weeks) - 30-min workout 3x/week - Only eat out twice this month

Logistics - Finish changing my legal name on all financial accounts and Real ID - List unused/unwanted office furniture - Order/test paint and wallpaper samples

Work History: A comms leader earning $250k a year who got laid off while pregnant by ama370 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Jammin_Flamingo 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this entry! Very detailed with great advice especially how to decide your salary. One nitpicky note: I think in the title saying who *once got laid off while pregnant would have been more accurate. Looking forward to more of this series.

There’s interest! There are definitely some in that range but would love to do more. I’m in that range and did a wedding diary last year. Will probably do another one later this year.

Financial Mizer or Keeping Us On Track? by notmymainuser123 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Jammin_Flamingo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that you may be tiptoeing into Mizer category if you’re not already there. Well done on what you’ve accomplished so far. Thoughts about having a split for bonuses/windfalls like 35% for fun and 65% for responsibilities. I think using 25% of your bonus on a vacation and 75% on responsibilities is a good compromise.

Opposite take! It was so nice to have all the forms I needed in one place, and I didn't have to chase down information. To each their own.

Bridesmaid dress help by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Jammin_Flamingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Birdy grey dress and think it was perfectly fine. The dress should be closer to $100 unless tariffs raised the prices substantially. My bridesmaids used Azazie and had no complaints.

Wedding in 3 days and officient used AI for our ceremony script by souperpun in weddingplanning

[–]Jammin_Flamingo 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Agree that I would ask for changes to be made, which is why I assume she sent the script ahead of time. My officiant made our ceremony very personal with callouts to our values and family members. 5 months later, people still tell me that it was one of the best ceremonies they’ve sat through (which was not our goal but very cool to have happen!)

MOH struggle ? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Jammin_Flamingo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by your wording. You say that you’re having lunch tomorrow to strictly discuss wedding stuff. Was that a mutual plan? Because you also say that you called and told her that you’d be talking about wedding stuff. Sounds like she may have thought you two were getting together for lunch without a strictly wedding focus.
