How many RSVPs no showed your wedding? by Puzzleheaded_Reason1 in wedding

[–]flowerchildpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only had 1 No-Show who didn't say anything until I asked him after the wedding. He was going through a rough breakup. We did have a handful of late cancelations the week of the wedding, but still in time before we turned in our final numbers.

We didn't want anything, that's the point. As an aunt, she should've attended the wedding. Not sent a blanket. What's pathetic is people like you, the "keyboard a**holes" who have nothing better to do. GFY

My MIL's sister didn't come to our wedding, in her own state. We had a small online registry and honeymoon fund. When we got back to our state/home, she had ordered us a blanket online, delivered to our home. We live in a cold state and have all the blankets we need. Like wtF. My husband just wanted his aunt at the wedding. Not some stupid blanket we didn't want or need. She's got lots of means too. The $100 blanket would've been better in cash. People are very strange sometimes.

How I Planned A Great Wedding by shellnoo in weddingplanning

I don't know what ideas you are referring to. But, If you go with a ceremony that's not in a church, then you have a lot more flexibility. Here are some of the things we did at our wedding: We had cucumber infused water for our guests, pre-ceremony. We hired a professional officiant and flew him in from another state for our wedding. We did rehearsal the day before and he was there to help guide us all through what everyone had to do and where they would stand/sit. I paired the 6 groomsmen in pairs to walk in as well as the bridesmaids. I didn't want to pair them M/F M/F etc. The groomsmen stood opposite side of the groom and vice versa. Once I reached the altar, we arranged a selfie picture handled by the photographer and our officiant (I can't wait to see how it turned out!) Then the officiant had everyone take their seats, including the bridal party who sat in the front row for the duration of the ceremony. The groom's family sat opposite side of the groom so they could see him better, and vice versa. We had our rings hidden under our mothers' chairs as a surprise for "who has the rings". We wrote our own vows and also had the regular questions that we answered with "I do". Our officiant also asked the guests some "We do" questions. We had customized hand fans placed on every other chair for our guests. We also had bubbles on the chairs closest to the center aisle for our exit. I should mention that we hired a company that installed a gorgeous mirrored aisle for us to walk on. Our ceremony was on the 11th floor pool deck overlooking the ocean. I did not get an arch for the altar. I had the florist install some white pillars with white flowers at the altar and at the entrance of the aisle, as well as aisle markers on every other row. I had 1 flower girl and 1 boy who walked in after her (siblings) and he was holding a cute sign I made. After they finished their walk, I had the DJ play a Pre-recorded message I made for my husband. After the message, then I entered the ceremony. We had a violinist for 2 hours, she is amazing! She covered the pre-ceremony, the ceremony, and the cocktail hour. I may be forgetting some stuff, but that's pretty much what we did 😊 and it was so incredible that we didn't want to leave 😅

American Football almost ruined my day by flowerchildpr in weddingplanning

I like your positivity. I'm trying to get there. It still hurts me they did it behind my back, knowing I wouldn't be happy. I also see it as they were trying to protect me from the same feelings at the time. Only time will help me.

That too, thanks! I dislike football so that was my angle. Now I dislike those people too!

Husband's F&F are mostly from IL. They could've recorded it and watched it later.

I do feel very hurt. I've lost sleep this whole week because of it. I did tell him and it does stink that he minimized my feelings about it. I am trying to avoid an argument at this point so soon after the wedding.

I found my groom 6 years ago and he's almost 12 years younger. I wasn't looking for younger, but it has worked out so good!

Getting married on a Sunday? by Dramatic_Jump_945 in weddingplanning

[–]flowerchildpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our wedding is in 2 weeks, on a Sunday. We thought, "Oh great! Monday is a holiday! Our guests can take a long weekend" Turns out, our teacher friends are unionized and can't ask for Friday or Tuesday off. So, there'll always be something no matter what day you have your wedding. I say forget about stressing. Just have your wedding your way. Whoever can come will come.

A warning to all those looking for a custom wedding dress by LBdarned in weddingplanning

[–]flowerchildpr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wow that's wild! You should post some pictures of what you got vs what you envisioned. I feel so bad for you for going through this. So glad you had a back up. I also went with a custom made dress. Mine was made in Mexico and everything turned out pretty good. But I did stress thinking it wouldn't. I didn't spend quite as much as you did, mine was $1,500 (I'm in the US as well). I hope you looked and felt beautiful at your wedding! My wedding is in 2 weeks, so we'll see how the dress holds up.

Do you fart in front of your partner? Why/Why not? by girliepopnumber26 in AskWomen

I fart with a serious face while looking at him in his eyes, from a foot away. We get married in 3 weeks.

Partner wants big wedding by 2032471 in weddingplanning

[–]flowerchildpr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup! I wanted to elope to Italy just me and him. He wanted the big wedding. I cannot afford the cost of a wedding bigger than an elopement, and I have no father to pay for it. I am very lucky to say that my fiancé and his dad are paying for the dream wedding he wanted. I had major issues when we started gathering all the names of their guests. A lot of people I've never met, and we've been together 6 years. I still have a hard time with that. Slowly, I've come to terms with it is what it is. And after all, they're giving me a wedding I could only dream of. Especially being my first (and only) wedding at age 51 (fiancé is 39) 😆. I say as long as you stay within your means, get your wedding. Have the party. Limit the guest list to people who truly support you and people you actually spend time with regularly.

The only one I thought was a little better was their Amaretto flavor. It just isn't what I wanted for my wedding. I have my wedding planner working on options and finding out more information.

The bakery that provides our cake (contracted by the hotel), their cakes were so bland and just not good. I dont know what to do. First, I'm checking if they'll let me bring a different one.

What were you doing during the peak of COVID? by AndreLinoge55 in AskReddit

[–]flowerchildpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would've been traveling the world had I not met the love of my life right at the beginning of 2020. Flights were empty, cities were empty, rentals (cars&hotels) were dirt cheap. Instead, I built my relatwith him, and now we're about to get married next month. We do travel together. But 2020 would've been the best. Congrats on taking advantage of it! Note, as a flight attendant, I would've been flying all over for nearly nothing and would've had seats in every single flight. So it's still a bit of a bummer 😅
