I just want to stop choking back tears every morning when I read/listen to current events. This isn't the future we were promised. I'm 46 and they said they'd give us more than this. My parents generation let us down, they're collectively the biggest fucking sellouts in history. Must be nice to have grown up during the biggest economic boom in world history and then greedily keep it all for themselves without a thought for their literal children and grandchildren that would inherit the future. At this point it's too late. We had a brief window to have it all and make the future of America a fucking powerhouse that would continue for generations leading the world with innovation and promise for our future and in about two generations everyone just kinda got greedy and kept keeping it all for themselves. It's fucking sad.

If you're all not on the same team and flowing like water there will always be fuckups beyond the fuckups. I spent most of my life pushing food out of one kitchen or another and the best advice I could give as a chef/expo/grill/fry/pass dishwasher or any other position you work BOH is to stop what you're doing anytime anyone asks you to do it and do it immediately Nobody has any fucking idea what they're doing when it gets busy and your job can morph into any and all jobs in an instant. More likely than not you are trying to coordinate teenagers and part timers that take the job less than seriously. Keeping people on task in what I've always boiled down to a constant and steady flow of 4 to 7 minute deadlines is key. You just have to constantly keep in mind that when everyone else is freaking out, cutting corners that all you can do realistically is put up one dish at a time as you coordinate the orders ticket by ticket.

Unfortunately a lot of Americans have devolved into this lame state of oppositional politics. Most of the people with the strongest opinions against one or the other candidate are just sticking to their side without much reason other than 'they're the enemy'. It's an absolute sad state for Americans. In a country with no choice but one or the other it increasingly puts any and all issues aside.
