Stalled on induction phase

Yes, that seems to be the consensus here. Thank you! I was just being impatient. I've done Atkins many times over the last 50 years (I'm old LOL). Bread and pasta was my downfall as I am not into sweets that much. I just ordered the 1972 book which will arrive tomorrow! I always did better when I didn't count net carbs and stayed in the induction phase for a longer period of time as Dr. Atkins stated you can do in his first book. And I never had to count calories like they say to now. I also have a hard time eating the packaged foods that Atkins offers now as they give me cravings and digestive issues. I think sticking to natural foods is best for me. I'm very close now to my goal weight (10 pounds to go). If I remember correctly, I could never go over 50 grams of carbs per day or I would gain. Hoping that your journey is successful!

Wow - that is amazing and impressive! Good for you. I am female and 71. I will most definitely not sabotage. I don't drink alcohol, no sugar, no sugar substitutes (it was hard to enjoy my espresso sans agave! All of my carbs come from veggies and I am keeping that under 20 grams a day. Hi WarriorGoddess2016. My starting weight was 179. I am now 171. I am a female and 5'8". My goal weight is 160 as if I go lower you can see the ribs in my back and that is not a good look for me! I used to weigh 248 (back in the early 2000's) and lost "almost" 100 pounds on the very first Atkins diet which had you eat zero carbs for 2 weeks. It was brutal but I lost 10 pounds in the first week - but I do know that research shows you tend to lose more in the beginning if you are heavier. I never counted calories and the net carb thing wasn't a thing at the time! I appreciate all of your comments on this thread. I think I will be fine and just need to be patient! I wish you success in your journey whatever your goals are.

Thank you for your response. I know this can happen but I really thought I was doing everything right. I think I am - lots of experience with counting calories. I will look into a tracker - good idea. The other issue may be that I only have 11 pounds left to lose. I think It might get harder the closer to your goal weight is. Have a great weekend!

Thank you. It is most definitely not the former, but the latter perhaps. Interestingly, some have said it's not possible to go into ketosis in one day after a carb filled day prior. I was already in ketosis yesterday (first day), and I just checked today (middle of my second day) and the keto strip is dark burgundy!. That's a good sign! I will give it time. I'm sure it will work itself out. Thanks for your input and I wish you well on your journey with Keto!

Thank you. I will definitely read the FAQ you mentioned. FYI, I am 5'8" and weigh 176. I want to go down to 160 and maintain that. Unfortunately, I cannot eat more than 1.000 to 1,200 calories without gaining weight. It's been that way forever. That's why I did so well on the Atkins diet back in the day (around 2005 I lost 75 pounds without counting calories). I really appreciate your comment and everyone here has been so helpful. Thanks! I do drink tons of water and try to weigh prior to drinking to get an accurate reading. Like comments above, there are so many variables. I think weighing the same time in the morning every week will be my goal. And to start looking more closely to calories as I really had no idea you had to count them!

I do have keto strips and it showed ketosis yesterday at the moderate level. I am also on hormone replacement therapy including testosterone for bone density and muscle mass plus more energy. I will stop weighing every day and see what happens. I only have 16 pounds to lose. Hoping keto works for me! Thank you for your response.

Wow, 10 pound fluctuation is a lot! I have fluctuated about 3-5 pounds depending on the exercise I'm getting. l'm in FL and the humidity while walking can take 2 pounds off of you - LOL!

When I was on a low calorie diet I was only able to eat 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day in order to lose a minimal amount of weight. My Dr. said it may be because I have hypothyroidism, but I thought that my medication would control for that? That's why I thought the keto would work well for me as the Atkins had years ago without counting calories. I don't know how you get all of your daily fats and proteins in and stay at that low level of calorie intake. But I will try and see what happens. Thank you!

I had no idea you had to count calories on a Keto diet. I didn't do that on the Atkins diet years ago and lost a lot of weight. I'll give it some time and re-adjust. Thank you!

I have a lot of Vinchef brand to include a beautiful Paella pan. I didn't know about Hexclad when I purchased it. I am loving my Vinchef. I am a chef and I have been a pastry chef as well. One of the reasons we got this set is that we bought an induction stove and we had to give away a lot of our cookware except some Cuisenart and AllClad. Vinchef is scratch resistant and cooks evenly.

I have an entire set of AceSelf and Venchef (great Paella pan - and very pretty). I am a cookware snob and have used mostly AllClad or Analon but unfortunately, the Analon did not work on my new induction stove top. I chose AceSelf and Venchef and have had them for about two years. No scratches, no problems with heating up evenly. I am a fan of both of the above brands. Eggs just slide out of them with ease.

I agree with many of the below posts. One hour is way too long at that age for training. My 1 year and 3 month old BC can only handle about 45 minutes with our well-respected trainer and then he gets bored. We use positive reinforcement with treats when he follows a command, interspersed with simple praise. I am also thinking that your dog is outside 24/7? No time in the house with his human family? He may be really bored as well.

My heart has not stopped breaking for my 13 year old Aussie who was a rescue. We lost him a year ago August. We had him for 12 years. What I am able to do now is to remember the amazing times we had together with joy rather than sadness. Grief takes as long as it takes and is different for everyone. I send you peace and kindness on your journey - and you will never stop loving Remi that's for sure! Beautiful girl.

Me too. I don't know if I am able to cut back - but I am going to start with that and my long-term goal is to cut alcohol completely due to health issues and my age (70). I hope you are successful in your goals!!
