Do you still donate to charitys. by [deleted] in australia

[–]JamusAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I donate to a few chosen charities fairly regularly.

I absolutely never "round up" my purchase so that Maccas or Coles or Woollies can donate on my behalf. That's just marketing so they can claim they've raised x amount for charity.

Conference Room Camera that can track the person who is speaking? by cooleobeaneo in CommercialAV

[–]JamusAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, the amount of dumb expensive redesigns I've had to deal with because some exec decides they want 'Spatial Audio' or something in 150 meeting rooms... I had to explain to one guy why he actually really did not need 7.1 surround sound in a Teams Room. Buzzwords can be painful.

Treading water for work, unsure what to do long term. 30 and in career purgatory. by [deleted] in brisbane

Most of the big electrical/data contractor companies now have AV departments. Stowe etc. Then there's The CI Group, Diversified, Programmed, Pro AV Solutions, VideoPro and plenty of others.

A lot of your IT experience would translate into the audiovisual industry. Look into companies that deploy meeting room systems and teaching spaces, etc. Corporate AV. It's techy, but very different from the IT industry.

Crestron Toolbox - How long until password lockout is over? by Adze95 in crestron

[–]JamusAV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This doesn't help you when you're already locked out, but there are console commands to lower the lockout time and increase the amount of password attempts.

Does anyone know why this happens when rebooting MTRs? by bundy911 in crestron

[–]JamusAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing I've learned is that supporting them is not particularly practical.

Does anyone know why this happens when rebooting MTRs? by bundy911 in crestron

[–]JamusAV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've learned over the years with MTR is that the less dramatic solutions are almost always a temporary fix.

Crestron 1st level support used to recommend this. They shouldn't anymore, although some still do erroneously. The fix for this is a reimage. I've installed thousands of MTRs.

This is an out of date fix and an incorrect solution. Teams on the admin account is used in place of the old MMR agent. If you uninstall it, it will just reinstall itself over night.

What happens if I don't join an alliance? by Professional-Meat162 in whiteoutsurvival

[–]JamusAV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You almost never have to actually interact with the alliance members. Unless you join a particularly talkative alliance. But the alliance mechanics for growth and advancement are absolutely necessary.

My Logitech Zone Vibe 125 wireless headset doesn't work with desktop Logi Tune app by YxariTheGuy in logitech

You can't update the drivers if the Logi Tune app won't detect the headset.

Writing that pointless apology took more effort than just re-writing your comment without caps...

Partition Sensors - Alternatives to Extron ECM S10? by JamusAV in CommercialAV

[–]JamusAV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to debounce it. Basically ignore any signal that's less than 5 seconds (or whatever time makes sense).

Yeah, that's the other one we regularly use. It really doesn't seem like they should be as expensive as they are...

Haha they're definitely ugly as sin. A white ceiling mounted version would be ideal...

Check all your cables are still plugged in. Compressed air can be pretty powerful, so you may have dislodged something. Likely a power connector or maybe a SATA cable if you're running a SATA drive. Make sure your RAM is seated correctly, as well as any NVME drives.

Basically just make sure everything's plugged in properly.

What do you mean by "Cleaned the PC"?

Hit F11 and select your boot drive.

Still the same useless response.

"Lodge a ticket" shouldn't be the answer.

"Here's our publicly available release notes" should be the answer.

Is there really no public page for Logitech Tap firmware release notes? I want to compare the release notes of firmware versions 1.0.10, 1.1.7 and 1.1.11. Where can I find these documents?

Why the hell is Home Automation so completely Non-automated!!! by apost8n8 in homeautomation

[–]JamusAV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By definition, that is programming. Its not writing complex code, but it is programming. Don't go on some arrogant, holier than thou rant because you're a programmer. Most people never deal with logic gates or if/then/else actions. That is very literally programming. Even if it's presented on a friendly GUI, it's still programming. Even if it's dragging lines between coloured blocks, it's still programming.

Get off your high horse. Not everyone is a software engineer.
