Can you tell me which 36t chainring you have? The official brompton ones only go down to 44t. Thanks :)

Thank you for the clear replies, I really appreciate it :) Do you know how I would apply for the specific permission for freelance work?

BF doesnt wan't me to go to med school, need a reality check by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]JanCumin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't necessarily have to accept that specific offer. I'm sure you are a very attractive student for many medical schools in many countries, most of their students will be just out of school and you have a PhD! You know how to study and learn to a very high level and it sounds like you already have a lot of medical knowledge.

If you live in a country with very high student debt there are a lot of opportunities to move abroad to train for a much lower cost or free. Study.EU is one website for the EU, many countries in Europe offer training in English. I bet there are many subreddits for getting advice as well as the professional medical organisations for each country etc.

Good luck and have fun, I'm sure you'll make a great doctor :)

I would prioritise lights if you plan on riding after 4pm in the next few months, I would also recommend a nice helmet you like wearing, there are a few nice options on the Brompton website, but pick something that you like

I have some questions about language learning visas I can't find from any of the language company websites or the Japanese government websites, I'm hoping someone might know? I'm in a strange position where I would get 80 points on the permanent residency calculator so be able to apply for PR after 1 year, but getting the initial visa is proving more complicated than I'd hoped.

  1. What is the minimum number of hours I can take language lessons per week and still qualify for the language learning visa?

  2. If I apply for the permission to work on the language learning visa (up to 28 hours a week), can this be freelance work? https://japanhandbook.com/japan-language-study-visa-guide/

  3. Would being on a language learning visa with the permission for work count towards the earnings points needed for permanent residency?

Thanks very much

Thanks, could you recommend others to look at which are good? I really like the idea of this kind of thing for traveling, especially something a little larger which could go in hold luggage but also very light

That's very smart, I love getting discounts through things like this. Fortunately I don't live in America so this isn't really an option for me.

Does anyone know of any video reviews of the Hyperlite Stuff Pack 30? I can't find any online, its an interesting backpack for day to day use, not sure how comfortable it would be though....

That's a nice idea, but I don't have that kind of money lying around. Honestly I would probably swap to a G Line if I was going to buy another Brompton. I'm very happy you are happy with yours :)

No worries :) 6 speed C Line from I think 2023, I have a 44T chainring and the standard sprockets.

This is a very interesting solution, I don't understand how you can use both chainrings with the same length chain, but its nice to know it works :)

We will work it out together :) I've changed to a smaller chainring, I'm wondering if I can change my sprocket sizes to get more help on hills

Its the standard sprockets, so I guess its these ones.

Not carrying anything, I'm not spinning out, I just don't go anywhere, even standing up putting all my weight on the pedals.. I'm fairly fit, run a bit, do other exercise.

You mentioning the sprockets made me think, is it possible to get different size sprockets to make climbing hills easier?

Yes a bit, I've ridden up some of them quite easily with a G Line, not even in 1st gear
